for this particular forum that would be hard to tell but you could go look at the top 10 member list.
I think the term "active member" should be extended into those that physically show up for meets.
I'm finding some folks just don't have the time to get into the online message forum bit. Others don't have access to the Internet. As a result, it's the old-fashioned method i.e. phone calls and word-of-mouth. But these folks still come out to events and participate.
Then you have the other extreme where people act like big-shots online and don't show up for meets. I find it doesn't happen here, but it does happen on other boards. This type of extreme is bad IMHO only because you lose the personal side of having an association like SVTOA.
But that's enough rambling from me![]()
we have a combination of both you describe. It would be nice to have at least SOME method of getting to these people electronically...but phone calls are sometimes the only way.
guess your refering to people like me! I am very active online, however the being that I live in Alaska, and there are no event here! Or even within a reasonable driving distance! I can't go to them. The dealers we have here have been contacted by several owners and have had requests to start a SVT club locally, however in the year I have owned mine I keep getting the "were interested and looking into it!" Which sucks! As I'd love to get a road trip of all the SVT product here going!
Also another issue with getting to events for me is that being military I have a very limited time frame I cen get off of work to attend events, I would literally have to take my whole years worth of leave to drive the ALCAN highway to reach the lower 48 (3 to 5 days of driving to washington state) and then onto where ever the event is (probably another 3 or so days), So by the time I get there and back I have spent 16 days of driving and 5000 miles on my car or more.
Sorry if that bugs anyone but I have no options of attending events and my only method of being involved with the SVTOA stuff is the online portion!
However if my extention up here is denied I'll be moving back to the ower 48 in february 05 and will try and get to as many SVT events as possible! Then again if I get extended here it will be feb 09 before I can attend anything!
If I get the dealer here to get a club going maybe.... There will be SVTOA sponsored events going here! Wanna come!?
HEHE LOL and when I can attend I will...
I'm sure you were not refering to me, however I felt an explanation was in order as I would love to attend SVT events!

I know the feeling on the startup thing. I tried to get my local dealer involved. Over the months you realize it's them not willing to put their money where their mouths are. A lot of resources, including time and finances are required. Actually, another person tried before I did...and they got nowhere. The result being now I'm with the Toronto chapter and my selling dealership is losing out on a lot of great things.Originally posted by imajsdaddy

The folks I was referring to are the traditional "punks" we see online. These are the ones who say they can outrun everyone this side of the continent and have nothing positive to say about anyone else (like my one friend who said this guy told him his ZX5 has an SVT motor and can smoke his SVT 3-door). That being said, being online does offer some a sense of sanity...knowing you're not alone and are part of a bigger collective
Actually, how far is Alberta from Alaska? The boys & girls out there have their chapter: SVTOA-Alberta. That's the only closest chapter I can think of. You can try them at SVTOA-Alberta

anyone that has over 500 posts is roughly posting once a day.....but that is a very vague average. Cause I could not posts for weeks and then get on here and post 30 things a day.
535 posts for! Seams like I post much more often now then when I started... I watched the numbers when I first got onto the site and then didn't pay much attention when all of a sudden I'm over 500! WOW!
Hey, my car is the fastest and IU can beat everything! Heck it's an SVT! HEHE! At least I can beat all of the stock foci!

I don't have much time to post now. I'm lucky if I can string together coherent thoughts past quitting time![]()
I totally disagree. By definition, this is a forum - as in "online". At least I think that's what Imaj' is referring to.Originally posted by GapBoyPCS
..."active member" should be extended into those that physically show up for meets....
In that respect, I have been quite active in providing insight and at the same time also actively benefitting from the knowledge others have volunteered. "Give and Take". Those are verbs. Verb = Active; Active + Me = Active - well, um... Just what does it take to become a registered member? I've been an "enthusiast" for almost 7 months.
I really should get back to work.

You could come up to Waterloo. On top of the windchill, we got snowsqualls. Great drifting weather
Since you're in Michigan, there's also the Focus club in that area: The Focus Connection . I met them last year at the auto show. It was weird being identified as "that guy from the internet"![]()
Yes, I am on FocusConnection also, as RedSVT 03. I like the board, but there is not much posting action on it. I have been on Focal Jet a lot more lately. I seem to keep finding all this information that I am looking for.
I am always up for meeting people, especially with similar cars. If you are ever in this area, we could always meet up. I just prefer warmer weather.
