    The TSB Number Thread

TSB's are Technical Service Bulletins issued by the manufacturer to address issues owners may have with their vehicle.

Below you will find your fellow SVTOA members have come across TSB's that relate to the SVT Focus.

If you wish to share TSB information, please post the TSB number in the subject line and the description (as it reads from the service printout or OASIS) in the message body. This thread will be a reference for all TSBs.

This thread is not open to comment. If you have a question, PM the provider directly or create a post for discussion.

    TSB 03-20-2: Suspension Creaking

This applies to all Foci produced from 2000 to 2003. I'll assume it's also a *possible* issue on SVT models:

SUSPENSION - Creaking, crunching, grinding or rattle noise from front suspension at slow speeds over bumps and/or while turning

NOISE - Creaking, crunching, grinding or rattle noise from front suspension at slow speeds over bumps and/or while turning

    Article Application: Supercedes TSB 03-15-3

TSB 2002 - 2003 SVT Focus- Fog Lamp Condensation

16785# TSB 2003 Mustang Cobra, 2002 - 2003 SVT Focus- Fog Lamp Condensation:

May exhibit condensation and/or water accumulation within the fog lamp assembly. If not serviced, the lamp may eventually become inoperative. This may be caused by the fog lamp filter becoming contaminated. If a slight amount of condensation is present in the lamp, replace the gray vent cap (about the size of a dime) with a black nitto style filter-cap ford part # 1L5Z-13B216-AA. If the lamp has excessive condensation (Heavy Droplets) or standing water, replace the lamp with service part # 2M5Z-15200-AA.
This replacement lamp will also need the black nitto style filter- cap, 1L5Z-13B216-AA, installed prior to the lamp installation. A revised fog lamp that includes the nitto vent will be released for service soon with a revised part number

    ISSUE:
Some SVT Focus vehicles may exhibit the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated with Diagnostic Troubles codes (DTCs) P1381/P0011 Variable Cam Timing over-advanced (Bank 1) and/or P1383/P0012 Variable Cam Timing over-retarded (Bank 1) stored in memory. The vehicle may also exhibit a rough idle, reduced power condition, and/or stall at idle. This may be caused by:
    · Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) control system stuck
    · Intake camshaft CMP trigger wheel mispositioned or loose
    · Engine Cam timing incorrect
    · Electrical conditions
    ACTION:
Refer to the following Service Procedure to verify the Cam Timing, Intake Camshaft CMP Trigger wheel position, and VCT solenoid operation, then service as necessary.

Program 03N01 - Possible Engine Stalling in 2000 and 2001 Ford Focus Vehicles
    Quote:
Attached is a letter announcing the details of a no-charge program Ford Motor Company will be conducting concerning your vehicle's fuel pump. We have found that some 2000 and 2001 Ford Focus vehicles may experience symptoms of engine hesitation, loss of power, surging and other similar symptoms as a result of progressive contamination of the fuel pump filters.

To address this issue, Ford is developing a new design fuel pump, which we expect to have available by late January 2004.

    End Quote
The letter goes on about current vehicle performance and a recommended action(s).

If you've paid to have your fuel pump replaced before the date of the letter, Ford Motor Co. is offering a refund. In addition this offer is valid for a period of 10 years from the original warranty start date of the vehicle with no limit of mileage.
