    SVT Focus stereo install...

I'm having a bit of difficulty trying to find a spot to go through the firewall to run 4 guage amplifier wire through. It is pretty compact in there and I don't want to drill where I can't see. If anyone has done it lemme know, my last option is to just route it underneath through the frame rails and up through the trunk.
Thanx if anyone knows how, it's a great car but it needs a little more boom lol.

I know running it throught the fender isn't prefered... However I ran mine as stated above and from the battery up the fender (there is like a little tray on the top of the fender under the bolts)... Anyway. Between 6 and 7 inches from the end of the fender I brougt the wire into the fender and fead it throught to the Black plastic plug, Drilled a hole (just smaller than) what I needed and forced the wire into it... It will come out into the black plastic molding by your left foot (when sitting in the car)

This made it easy to pull the cover off (or unscrew it if you like) and pull up the door sill plate and wires fit nicely all the way back.

    Hope this helps.

Oh yeah... Make sure you check clearences for the hood mounts as I didn't at first and shot sparks when I closed the hood! That wasn't pretty!!!

That's pretty much which I just did. After removing the large plastic fender splash guard, I drilled a hole through the fender near the master wiring harness. After drilling the hole, I cleaned the area with alcohol so that the silicone rubber sealant would stick well. I was carefull to seal everything up because this could become a corrosion point.

I decided to run commerical 10-3 solid copper wire. This wire will easily handle 30 amps each wire (3 of them). The idea is that I will run one wire to each amp (2x50w rms). I can then use a 25 Amp fuse at each wire on the battery end.

I prefer this approach using the 10-3 over the single 4 guage because it allows you to fuse each "end application". If you go with the 60 amp single fuse, one of your 20 amp amplifiers could suck 60 amps before blowing (yes its true that the amp has a fuse itself - but if a short occurs before that fuse, you're ****ed).

    cheers
    jay
