    Drag racing again????

When are we drag racing again? I had a great time but the event was cut 1.5 hours short from what was explained to us by Clay in the drivers briefing. Not to mention that the envent started late and I could not even start for another hour after the briefing as I had to wait on the race gas to open. Which meant I did not get to hit the autocross. I'm not too upset but it did get to me that Clay told us we could stay till 6pm running as much as we wanted and just when I started taking off my drag tires (at 4:25pm) I looked over and the cones were being picked up. All in all I had a great day but wanted to hit the auto cross as well and had planned to hit it after I was done drag racing as I have to change all four tires. I hope I did not offend anyone but the truth being told is I feel Clay should have let everyone Know.

It was a great time indeed. You should remember that the Autocross was open for approx 6 hours! That is a long time for those that are working the event to stand there and take times. As the line started to dwindle you should have probably asked if they could hold it open instead of waiting so long. I would say thank you to Clay and all those that worked it for putting on such a event instead of complaining that you didnt have enough time to do both.

I understand your concerns. The schedule said it would wrap up clean up and clear out between 4:30 and 5:30.

The tech and track was supposed to be ready to go at 10 am.
The boss had to go have lunch with Dick Cheney,no kidding.

I am not sure why traction was so hard to find.

Steve the track manger gave us an extremley low price a fraction of what Darlington wanted for our sole use.
We will most likely retirn. We need more autocross and road course events. One is in the works.

Oh our next test & tune is tentative for Sun NOV 9th at DARLINGTON FROM 12 til 5pm.This is not our event but we will be attending as a group

Oh and the www.scfyb.com folks want to kick some SVT behinds.
Imagine that on November 8 at Darlington thats right the day before our t&t. AND upstate mustang dragday is Next Sunday at ware shoals SC .I plan on going.
Keep those comments coming.communication is the key!

How about this holding a clock is not that hard of work! It was not hot or cold out! And they had a shade to sit under. They got help putting the cones back! I don't see where it was hard! And we were told it would be open until 6pm! THANK THEM?????? I paid $85.00 for one day at a track! How about they thank ME! When I'm told they will be on the track until 6pm and we can run as many times as we want right up to 6pm because they were going to be there I don't feel I should have to check up on them to see if they were still running the event. How professional are they if I do? This is the second time I've been to an SVTOA event that said they were going to do something and did not deliver on there promise! I let my truck cool down for about 45 minutes to an hour before I run it (when I'm running for time). My wife and I were running the truck so that meant quite a bit of cool down time. However we had planned it so that we would have about an hour or so to run the autocross as it was not but a 30second thrilling course.

How about if you have such bad experiances then just dont come to the next one? Sorry that you had such a bad time and didnt get all that you wanted like the rest of us did. I am sure there isnt anyone else complaining about this weekend. I know this is just my opinion but when I heard you complaining I just wanted to laugh. Oh well, I am sure everyone else had a great time.

    Respectfully,

As some great person once said" Even the best laid plans sometimes go astray" Or in more modern terms " S--T Happens"

maybe a drivers meeting should be held at lunch time to go over the days events, recap on any issues of the morning, provide info to drivers about when the day may wrap up and any other track issues?

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Please note that this event was put on completely by volunteers who received not one penny for their months of hard work and dedication. If you would like to make things better in the future then I suggest participate on a regular basis and volunteer to help with events. Special thanks to all of our out of town guests and The Lowcountry Mustangs.

First and foremost, we had a great time. How can drag racing with a bunch of people who own awesome vehicles, not be fun? There is nothing wrong with offering constructive criticism or suggestions for the next event. The flyers mailed out, said the event was from 10-5pm. Since the event started late, gas was not available until after 12pm and Clay stated in the driver's meeting that we had free run until 6pm, I had the understanding that we were getting some extra time, due to the above mentioned reasons. We are not the only one's who had this understanding, we just happen to be the only ones who are voicing it now in this forum. Due to the remarks made, I certainly do not blame anyone else for not saying anything. But we are strong and can handle it. So instead of getting ugly and saying "if you don't like it, don't show", how about we all just agree that in the future better communication is needed at the events. This is not the first time at an SVTOA event where communication was a problem. That's my only suggestion. If we had any grudges against SVTOA, then we wouldn't have recruited a new member tonight. Suggestions and constructive criticism can only make a better event in the future, how can you argue with that?
