    Popping Exhaust

My 2002 has a really bad(i like it) popping out of the exhaust when i down shift and sometimes between up shifts. Ford told me it was bad and the first case they have heard of. I dont see how it is bad but I love how it sounds. Anyt one else have this. My buddies 2003 doesnt do this by the way.

It is common. It becomes even more noticable if you have an aftermarket exhaust. I like it too, sounds like a race car...but it is a SVT, so it is a race car...lol

Yeah I love how it sounds. I don't know if you have looked under yours but there is like 6 damn mufflers on that beast. I am debating getting under mine and taking the resonators off and just leave the cat and muffler.

I would be careful on that one. I did that before, removed the front and rear resonator and just left the muffler. It sounded ricy to me, that tin can sound. I tried a flow master 40s muffler, and that did not help. Also, I have the orp that made it even more ricy sounding. I broke down and bought a complete Borla system. I love the way it sounds now, nice and low through the WHOLE rpm band all the way to the top!! With my old set up (no resonators) it would buzz really bad between 2K and 4K. But, with the Borla that is gone, and I will not being doing anything different to my exhaust, besides buy another Borla if need be. Also, with the Borla the pipes are 2.5" compared to the 2.25" stock pipes. So if I ever get f/i the larger pipes will be a plus. Anyway, if you like that ricy sound I would go with what you are talking about, it just got on my nerves after a while, just depends on what your taste is.

No I can't stand that weedwhacker sound roaring around town. Those Hondas sound worse than my John Deere. So ripping the resonators off is a bad idea? Id like to get a borla kit but I want my factory tip I just love the way it looks.

Have you seen the Borla? Its pretty nice, almost looks like the factory tip. Its not one of those huge rice racer tips, it is pretty subtle, its not a cut tip though like the stock (not slanted). Let me know if you have not seen the tip, and Ill try to track down a pic of it, or you might want to try Borla's website to see if there is a pic of the tip there....actually here is a clip of the Borla with my same exhaust set up, but this is a turbo svt, louernco's.

Use MS Photo Editor. Open the program and browse for the file. When it is open go to the Image pulldown and click on resize. It should tell you the size in pixels. Drop it down to 640x480 or smaller. That should be o.k.

If you can't get the file uploaded just send it to my email account at gg99free@yahoo.com

    Thanks

I installed the Magnaflow cat-back and the sound is way better than stock and all the components are mirror-polished stainless. I didn't have to pay the extra $100 for the Borla name either. The Magnaflow kit comes in two parts and eliminates the rear "waffle"resonator.

Can you send me a pic on what it looks like? What's the diameter of the pipe?

    Thanks

There are three of the exhausts available for the SVT, at least the sound. I have found two different pipe sizes of the Magnaflow for the SVT, but I dont know which one is right, either 2.25 or 2.5.
Personally I got the Borla in a group buy for 425, the extra money was ok for the deeper more sublte tone, and lifetime replacement if anything goes wrong.
