Yes, the stock GT500 is electronically limited to 155. It can be turned off with a tune.
SCT hand held tuner should do the trick.

Thanks for the reply. The car is supposed to have a Diablo tune already installed. How can I make sure without risking my license?
I think the only way to be sure is to check with a hand held tuner other than that a private road or a dnyo pull up to speed.
