Even though Carroll Shelby endorses it I would not use it in my car. I am not a believer in oil or fuel additives. If you change you're oil and use a quality fuel why would you need anything else.

    True.

I was watching a special talking about it and was wondering if it was really worth it.

I have used fuel injector cleaner in the past on my other cars.

I have used it in the past, and have not had any issues... but I also can't say it really does anything that is worth the cost for the "Full System" est.$60.
Between using Shell Supreme 93 oct. fuel along with a Lucas Oil Fuel System/upper cyl. treatment and Pennzoil "Ultra"/"Platinum" full synth. oil I don't really worry too much. Since the ZMax is really an "absorbent" after a few cold starts and good engine runs it is suppose to be "absorbed" into the metal therefore not really being an Oil Stabilizer that continues to circulate with your already "Good" oil.> IMO.

I too have been a skeptic, but when the local Porsche dealer added Z MAX on the 2010 service on my 2000 911 coupe, I decided to keep it up. I have had excellent engine performance now in my 12th year of ownership.
I recently attended a tech workshop at Barber Motorsports Park sponsored by our local PCA club. The experienced Porsche mechanics all highly recommended use of Lucas products in the fuel and oil systems for better performance and protection of the vulnerable intermediate shaft bearing and fuel pump. I have been using Lucas in my GT 500 and F-250 truck and have noticed improved engine smoothness and better gas milage. Hope this helps.

It should... I have been using Lucas oil products for years and only recently the Z-Max with the purchase of my '06 Mustang GT w/ 6 miles on the OD originally. It has really worked for many of the older vehicles I have owned in the past, making me a believer when it comes to the Lucas stuff... I have plenty of friends with much higher performing cars than I swear by the stuff... (Lucas and Z-Max both), so what the heck why not.

    True story:
I once owned a 1994 Olds "Cutlass Supreme" many years ago well beyond the 100K OD, and I was traveling in a severe thunder/rain storm... could not see 5 ft. in front of me, so I was not paying really any attention to my temp. gauge (The car never had a history of overheating... ever.) anyways all of a sudden I felt a shudder in the engine, looked down and saw my needle well into the "Red" I quickly pulled over to a gas station, no blockage in the air intake like debris but just overheated and smoking. The oil cap was "Melted... yes Melted on to the manifold!" I waited for awhile for the car to cool down, managed to pry the melted cap off and check the engine oil and the oil level was fine but the radiator had gone bye, bye... hence the cause. I got back on the road again I only needed to go another 8 miles or so but I got it home, next day fixed everything and refreshed the oil again using what I used the last time hoping that everything was going to be okay and... vroom! Fired right up and worked as if nothing had ever happened.
    Product I was using:
    1) Pennzoil of some type at the time. (It only had about 2k miles of use in it.)
    2) Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer (For added protection)

Was it the Pennzoil or the Lucas don't know... Don't care all I know is "It Worked!"

    Smile

I posted a new thread on this subject. Got me to thinking give it a try and see: (Pennzoil "Ultra" and ZMax together exclusively)
I do not usually switch back and forth between different oil brands so I decided to stick with the Pennzoil "Ultra" now that it is more readily available around where I live.

Just for the record, my post above still stands... I do not know if getting the "Whole System treatment" is worth it $60 aka "Fuel treatment & Engine Formulas" more specifically right now I am only using the ZMax "Engine Formula". > See my new Post under " Pennzoil "Ultra" and ZMax.....

Z-Max thread, one more thing. I was curious about the Z-Max formula so I emailed the manufacturer and requested the MSDS Sheet on Z-Max. This Federal Form always includes the ingredients of the product. It states that Z-Max is 99% mineral oil. In my further reading, I discovered that it is physically de-polymerized to make the molecular chains shorter. This apparently promotes its better penetration.
I did the same for Lucas Treatment products and their MSDS Sheet indicates that the principal ingredient is a paraffin. Any corrections are welcome.

I am not an expert on "Paraffin" but I think its Kerosene based therefore would burn off in the combustion process. There is also a "Paraffin Wax" but I don't really know what it is used for..... mabye I should ask my mother, she grew up around Kerosene lamps growing up.
