Thread: Setting timing on 95 Cobra R

Question Setting timing on 95 Cobra R

How do you go about setting the base ignition timing on a 1995 R? I heard something about disconnecting a 'spout' connector but dont know what that is or where to look for it.

Are there any other tricks or tips?

What should base timing and full advance timing be set at?

Is the distributor in this car tunable for setting advance curves?

its a grey connector and in the SN95 cars its buy the air cleaner, you must unplug this first while the car is running. I wouldn't run past the 14deg mark for the timing.

Look for a harness with only two wires that ends in a pigtail connector (it has something plugged in, but it's just a sort of dummy cap thing, and not another harness. That's the SPOUT (SPark OUT) connector. When it is disconnected, the computer can't set timing dynamically, and the timing just stays at the base setting. Stock is 10 BTDC, and you'll probably run it somewhere between 10 and 14 degrees BTDC.
