View Full Version : Supercharge the 01 Cobra?

I have a 2001 Cobra with about 6M mls. Now seeing the new ones with the supercharged engine I was wondering what this project would cost, would it be worth it, and would it void my warranty, and where to get it done? I see the new cobras and GTs in my area are all Mach supercharged.
Plus, I notice many owners writing in about shifting problems (trying to get it smoother). I've noticed it in my 01, but have adjusted my shifting to compensate. I've taken it to the dealer, but they can't figure it out.
Any thoughts/guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Yup... Kinda sucks but it will.. unless of course you find a dealer that is mod friendly and doesn't care

I have an '01 and had lots of problems with the tranny, blew the synchros twice.... before it was modded. Anyways, the last time it happened, I threw in a 6-speed - -(had no warranty anyways). Now it's fine.
As for super chargers, I put a ATI Procharger P1SC running only 6psi boost on mine, and dyno'd 444.9 rwhp 403.2 torque. The blower was about $3800 USD.
Now, while it's winter, I am upgrading the blower to a D1SC with lots more boost. wooohooo, come spring. (and yes, I am also doing motor work)

I have an '01 with Vortech kit (S-trim w/ aftercooler) was under 5k, about 10 pounds of boost (until i add a powerpipe). my cars also got some other stuff (see sig below) to get it to a little over 470rwhp. More power than that and you will probably need better internals in the motor, which cost more than most people like. The total cost might be higher than an '03 would cost you, but IMO it is a better setup. To sum it up, you can easily add a lot of power to your 01 without spending a lot like SVTgirl said, or you can spend a lot adding as much power as you want, whatever suits your needs and budget.
