I have a 1996 cobra with 92000 miles on it. The problem I have is the temp and oil psi gauge are pegged to hot and high oil psi and the alt gauge goes down like it's not charging. I do not what to mess the engine up but I cant beleave it would be running that hot under normal driving conditions. I have a bassani offroad x pipe with out the cats.(or the O2? eliminators) Someone told me that my car might be running in limp mode? due to no cats would that cause my gauges to act up? I am new to the mustang thing and don't know much yet so any help would be great help.

JASON:
I have a 1997 Cobra and the CD service manual. I checked the wiring diagram for the instrument cluster where I see that all three of the gauges in question share at least one thing in common: Fuse #15, 10A. Check it out. The fuse panel is up under the left end of the dashboard. Extract the fuse as you note the condition of the fit of the fuse in its connectors. It should be snug and resist extraction. If loose try to squeeze the connectors a bit closed to tighten things up. Inspect the general condition of the fuse. If the ****gs are corroded, clean them, and the connectors they plug into. If not blown, reinsert and give it a go. If blown, replace it. Sometimes fuses blow for no apparent reason and replacement will be good forever. Or it'll blow shortly and you'll know you have a greater problem.
They also may share a common ground connection point. As best I can tell this common point is located to the right side of the CD/tape player, just below the dashboard, just behind the top edge of the carpet. There should be (2) green-headed screws there with (3) wires terminated by them to the metal frame that holds the CD/tape player stack. Remove the screws. Clean all contact surfaces. Solder the tip ends of the wires to the compression ring terminals, and re-install screws.
If all above doesn't get it, I can't do any more without getting my hands dirty. Good luck!

PS - tried to fix that word '****gs'. Something /somebody, doesn't like the letters 'p', 'r', 'o', 'n', and 'gs' strung together for some reason!
