hi, i'm thinking about putting new reag gears in my 97 cobra soon, and I can't seem to decide on what ratio to get, I think i should get either 3.55 or 3.73. Yes, i know, htose are very modest gears and there are those out there who say your have to get 4.10's at least, but i do a fair amount of highway driving and drive the car at least 20 miles 6 days a week. what i would really like to know are things like at what RPM can u cruise at 65 MPH with 3.73's with the stock T-45, how much quicker will my 0-60 time will be with them, and things of that nature. Thank your for your help.

I had 4.10's in my 1999 Cobra and everytime I went to a meet etc. it was highway miles and it never hurt, plus it didn't do too bad on gas either

I had 373s on my '01 Mustang GT convtbl. With a few other mods, I was getting 14 mpg around town, 19 mpg highway. Switching from 327s to 373s shaved .3 seconds off of my 1/4 mile time.

For a '96 to '98 Cobra I would strongly recommend the 3:73's. I've driven Cobras in just about every gear combination & believe that anything higher numerically (lower) does begin to effect everyday streetability. Some can tolerate it better than others I guess. Everyone you talk to will probably have their opinions but the 3:73's will put the Cobra's HP curve more in line w/ everyday needs & improve your acceleration. You will feel it.

I just had 3.73's installed in my 97 Cobra last week - SWEET!!!

I was tempted to go with 4.10's but thought the 3.73's were low enough...I'm NOT disappointed - the difference is noticeable!

Now for the exhaust, CAI, tune... ;)
