The pulley is hard to get on and hard to get off, it is because the pulley is pressed. The snout is very sensative you may damage it by trying to do it yourself. Take it to a shop that has a pulley puller. I had mine installed by a shop and they even complained about how hard it was to get off. Hope that helps you.

I did mine, It's tough to get off. If you use a good puller you'll be OK! Have some one help you! Watch out for the coolant pipes right behind the snout. It takes some strength, I had Tom at Paul's Auto off of the ground! That's how hard I was Pulling. I think the story will be in an upcoming 5.0 mag.

The pulley is very hard to get off. I would take it to a performance shop and have it done. Rachrse

The process in straightforward. Release belt tension, remove pulley, replace pulley, replace belt, retense and test drive. In practice, removing and replacing the pulley requires a good amount of force. Throw in a breaker bar and anti-seize for good measure.

I say hold on there gentlemen. Let's not scare this new guy out of doing a pulley swap. Most of the SVT freaks in Tampa are trying different methods, and all have worked out well. Paul's High Performance; www.paulshp.com, sells the complete blower front nose piece with a 5lbs. boost adder pulley already pressed on it for 14 lbs. total boost. You have to unbolt the front of your own blower nosesnout (8 bolts ) to swap it. Then some have tried buying a pulley from South Florida Pulley HQ and having a shop put it on. Most of the shops end up taking the front nose piece off to get the old pulley off and press the new one on. Still others have purchased a Metco 6 lbs. lower crankshaft mounted pulley to replace the stock one. Have a shop do that one also as special tools are needed. The real daring guys have used a pulley puller and done it in their driveway using smal increments of movement to get the stock pulley off without damaging the shaft. Two guys have used a 2.8 inch diameter pulley. Some others have used a 3.1 inch diameter ( all uppers). The Paul's HP kit uses a 2.93 diameter Lightning pulley/nosepiece. The facts are that it's not easy to do it yourself unless you have some really decent mechanical skill and lots of good tools, plus patience !
