Actually, Since 140 mph was my technical limit; I was not floored for most of the trip. A stock 2001 Cobra can easily go close to 150mph. Hills were no problem at 140mph.

As the driver of "The World's Fastest Kia" said.

"I hate you guys with horsepower!"

The green 99 Cobra belongs to Rocket John (see his plate!)

The red 99 Lightning belongs to Stan Martin, who makes it go faster than any lightning should.

Those guys are racers. I was just lucky. :geek:

Check the rules for 2003 when they are released (www.openroadracing.com)

All classes require roll bars for convertibles.

Generally, Touring classes (80,85,90,95,100,105,110 mph average with a 124mph limit) require, a fire extenguisher, personal safety gear, and tire safety. I ran with a custom built harness bar, that is now removed and did not require any drilling or welding.

Grand Touring (115,120,125mph average with a 140 mph limit) additionally requires a harness and better tires & safety gear. A harness bar and harness is fairly easy to install and can be removed easily.

Grand Sport & above requires welded roll bars/cages and racing safety gear.

IT DOES GET BETTER THAN THIS (I hope).
