 Any comments on a Diablosport chip w/rev limit 7000
& governor gone!! Chipmaker claims 20/30% increase hp! &
30/40% increase tork!! Any comments will be appreciated!

I am sure a chip can alter to some degree the performance and can change such things as rev limiter or allow 7000RPM.

I do find it optimistic in the extreme that a 20-30% hp gain and a 30-40% tq gain can be obtained with just a chip change.

:jawdrop:

I can be wrong though, as my spouse will readily attest :spank:

I don't know how mutch you gain with just the chip, but my 03 dynoed at 380RWH and 369 MT before I added the chip and upper pulley horsepower went to 430 and MT went to 426.Hope this helps Rachrse

I have the Diablo sport chip and upper pulley, I cant vouch for that because I know the pulley did most of my horse power increase. You gotta do the chip and pulley together, it is the most amazing difference.

most dyno curves i've seen peak at 62-6300, alot of people shift there, there probably isn't any point in going higher with out different cams:cbra:

Installed Chip saturday morning/12-14/WOW! The car feels &
sounds totally different. The acceleration is smoother/stronger/
faster(if thats possible)the shift points are 300/400+rpm higher,
Horsepower/Torq is up 30+!!!!(Not Dynoed Yet)
The rev limiter has moved to 7000+(am shifting @ 6800/6900)
Torq is gut punching!

The stats on Chip state that Optimum gas/mix & timing are
calibrated in 400rpm increments(I'm a believer)up to 10 Degrees
if needed?

The top end limiter haden't been pushed - yet!

Will add 2.93 pulley @ 36000 miles 4 1/2+ lbs boost/50+hp!!

Why are you waiting til 36000 to do the pulley? The chip has already voided your warranty.

Actually, this isn't true. If you analyze the adjusted torque (or power) at the rear wheels, not just peak values, you should probably shift every gear at redline. My car produces more adjusted torque at 6900 rpm in every gear, except third and fifth, than it does in the next gear up. The third to fourth shift I should do at 6800 rpm according to my numbers. With the stock redline this is even more clear.

Shift as close to redline as possible :).

The pulley puts an xtra 3000 rpms on the supercharger -hard
rpms!
The dealer has a memo about pulley changes & what tell-tale
signs to look for - BAM! - WARRANTY VOIDED!!

But the Diablo chip is another fall under a Fed-statute for
computer mods(See my comments on Forum/voids warranty)

Keeping my fingers crossed for 33000. Bluesonic

There is an 01 cobra sitting at Freedom Ford that is burning oil,Ford sent down a rep,the first thing they checked was to see if a chip had been installed, ther was and they voided the warr for his engine.I am not exagerating .You can call them 727-797-2277 and ask for any service advisor. It is not at the dealers discretion on a major engine repair,Ford is cracking down since they are losing so much money.Your chances of ever having a problem are next to none, might as well do the pulley now and enjoy it.

Seams like if it was burning oil they would have taken the chip out before taking the car in for service. It is simple to do and the rep would have not been the wiser. Rachrse

They can still tell, the chip was removed before this car was taken in.Where the chip is plugged in cannot be made to look stock again.Hey Bluesonic,I was not trying to make you worry I was just saying might as well do a pulley and have fun.The odds are in your favor that you wont have any major probs with this engine. It is built for atleast 500 hp plus.

FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD, THE DEALER CAN IMMEDIATELY TELL IF YOU CHANGED THE CHIP BY SIMPLY LOOKING IF THE FACTORY SEAL HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF FROM THE COMPUTER. ONE OF THE DEALERS OUT HERE TOLD ME THAT MY WARRENTY WOULD IMMEDIATLY BE VOIDED. HOPE THIS HELPS. (sorry that it is in caps, i didnt feel like typing it over!)

Sure it can. At least it can be made to look close enough for any service tech. The sealant used is available from any electronics parts store. If you want to get serious about it the edge connector pins can be re-tinned and then it's almost undetectable to the eye that anything was done. Search www.svtperformance.com. It's been discussed :).

Not that I would recommend this ;).

As for warranties, you guys really should read up on your rights. Neither Ford nor dealers may *void* any warranty because aftermarket parts, including chips, are present. They may only *deny* warranty service for damage caused by the parts. Their own warranty says exactly this, that they will not reimburse for "damaged caused by...". The word "void" is never used. Ever.

The law clearly states that they may not *void* anything. Any dealer that claims that you cannot get any more warranty service because aftermarket parts are present on your car is breaking the law. Period.

Now, in reality, I believe one would have to go to court to fight for a new engine if the current engine breaks internally with a chip or a pulley present. However, just about everything else, all the nickle and dime stuff, on the entire car, will still be covered under all warranties.

Just my 2 cents.

 I don't trust the warranty people. I hate to say this but I don't think these people like us to begin with. It's become to much fun to say tuff sh%t and laugh about other peoples problems even if they didn't do anything wrong because we have more than they do. You can't expect an understanding dealer filled with people who "wish" they could buy a Cobra to pass the chance to tell you you should have left well enough alone. They're jealous, and they think we're nuts for needing an SVT.

The only way an engine that is not inherently defective can be damaged is by detonating because of too much timing and/or too little fuel or overrevving. Presumably the people who are programming these chips are designing in improved/safe fuel and timing curves, and that's where the extra power is coming from. If anything that would lower the likelihood of engine damage. Raising the rev limit to me seems pointless and that is where the dealer could point the finger.

Helps prevent possible detonation by providing fuel during a missed shift at redline.

& governor gone!!

Optional. Unless you plan on going for top speed.

 There is no factory SEAL!!, just a metal cover w/6 screws
Simple - Quick - Easy - To get 30+ hp(even more Torq)
Even the plug in on Mod can be re-dipped(see reply post)

Perhaps jguerre1 is referring to the factory silicone across the circuit port?

Which reply post? Dipped in a solution of ...?
