I'm looking for some counsel regarding roll bars for my 2001 Mustang Cobra Convertible. I want to participate in some of the SVT on track events this year, but I see that a roll bar is required to run at some of them. My car is a daily driver and has to accommodate my kids in the back seat. Is there a roll bar that I can install for track events and then remove without destroying the interior or usabililty of my car for daily driving? If you have any first hand experience, I'd love to hear back from you. Thanks a bunch.

Actually, a rollbar is required at ALL SVTOA On Track events for convertibles. Unfortunately, insurance dictates this policy. I believe the newest issue of the SVT Enthusiast covers rollbar options for Mustang owners. IF you don't receive a copy in the mail, go to your local SVT dealer, they usually have them.

Try the guys at Kenny Brown Performance. They are supposedly working on one.

www.kennybrown.com is the website, but I would call them.. ask for Rich!

I recently installed an autopower bolt in rollbar in my 2001 cobra convertible. I debated for a long time whether or not to install a rollbar for track events, then this year the SVTOA requirements mandated the need for one. My car is also a daily driver. I installed the 4-point bar with the additional removeable harness bar. If you don't use the harness bar the rear seat is still useable but with the harness bar it is not useable. Now that the bar is in and padded, it looks awesome!! I can't imagine going without it. I have tracked my car a couple times and it is definitely safer with the rollbar than without. As I said, Autopower make the rollbar and it isn't too hard to install, you have to modify the rear seat back frame to get it back in with the rollbar but it is do-able.
