I'm just curious, how many of you have ridden in the passenger seat of your Cobra, and what was your take on it. This has only happened to me once, I let my best friend drive it. I was a nervous wreck. It felt like I was letting someone carry my first born child (if I had one) over a 200 year old suspension bridge suspended over a 2000ft drop. The funny thing is that I have had the car almost 2 years and my wife has never been allowed to drive it.

WHAT! "Never been allowed"! She either isn't a car person and doesn't mind or plans on showing you and taking it in the divorce. Our 03 Cobra is in my husbands name but I drive it more then he does. Of course he did buy it for me for my 30th birthday/10 year wedding anniversay gift. We live in Michigan and the car has been in winter storage for about four months, I've actually started dreaming about it at night. At the rate we keep getting snow it will be at least another month and a half or two before she comes out of storage. Am I pathetic to be dreaming about my car or what? Anyway back to your question, yes I have been in the passenger seat when I "ALLOW" my husband to drive! HAHA! Hey, he pays for it so why not. Once last summer I let my 20 year old brother drive it. I didn't go with him but I told him if he didn't return it in the same condition as he took it, he'd better be dead! He was only gone for about 10 minutes.

My Cobra is mine, and nobody else drives it. My wife does not know how to drive with a stick. And she is not willing to learn either. When my 10 month old boy is ready, he will be the only one to drive it then :p

Interesting comments here. Our Cobra is exactly that our car, been married 13 years. We purchased it together with every intention of her driving it also. She knew it was my dream to own one of these cars. She has driven the car, reluctantly but she did fine. Put some goodies in the car and she is not to interested in driving it. She is apprehensive of driving it, well lets not forget to mention that she wrecked my 02 F250 this past summer and really has not wanted to drive that let alone the Cobra. It is alot of car for anyone let alone a women as the last poster put it. No disrespect intended towards any female , as many own these cars. It is alot of car, just the way I like it. SO all in all yes she can drive it but chooses not to!!!! Not to bad on my end!!!
And NO ONE else with be given that choice!!!!!!!

I was brought up to share my toys. I have let numerous people drive my Cobra and my Lightning. Do not get me wrong I love both my Cobra and Lightning but I see nothing wrong with letting others experience what it is that is so special about them. :tmb:

As a little different twist to this - How many of you have let someone else drive your Cobra/Lightning/Focus/Contour SVT on the TRACK with you in the passenger seat?
I have been fortunate to have two clients - one in a Cobra, one in a Lightning - who had the trust and faith in me to drive them, at speed, around Mosport. That truly is a test of nerve for the owner, and is something that I will not forget.

Only once. My wife driving, me in the passenger seat, the salesman in the back. Top down, warm spring day, cool street, traction control off, while we were test driving before buying. Out of the dealer's lot sideways, tires smoking, supercharger whining. Like I said, only once!!! When we got back to the dealer, she asked for another test drive in the GT, side by side with the cobra. She said she needed a visual on how much faster the cobrfa was. The dealer turned down her request. We bought the cobra.

Funny you should ask. My wife really hates riding in mine, so I let her drive it while I was in the right seat. You know what? That is the most uncomfortable seat I have ever been in. Makes an old Martin Baker ejection seat feel good. This is really odd since the drivers seat is great. I have been researching the Reccaro web site. They are really expensive, but since the 06 SVT won't have an IRS, I think I'll buy a set of adjustable Reccaros and save a bunch of money in the long run.

Guys, I think I'll swap the passsenger seat with the driver seat  . I could care less for the bladder controls, they are useless, damn controls stink  .

A total of 5 people have been in the driver seat of my car.
My step-dad drove it a short distance - never again. :)
My friend drove it on some opens roads north of the city - he was actually a little cautious - I owed him a drive in the car since he taught me to drive stick on his car.
The other 3 were instructors from track events - thanks again for that run Jeff L. - that was fun!
Being a passenger was rather strange. Didn't find the seat as comfortable as the driver side. There is also nothing to hang on to as you are going around a track.
Actually, the only other person that has driven the car would be the person at the dealership and the shop when I had work done.
This is my car but my wife can drive it anytime. She has twice once with and with out me (the one time she had to pick me up). She most likely will never drive it with out me. My daughter drove it once w/me she is 17 (never with out me). My brother in law, my niece, my nephew, my nephew in law and my best friend all with me never alone. I like the drivers seat too much. As a passenger I am too nervous. But I will probably let others drive it, but never with out me.

My wife can't drive stick.
She hates the shift sensation.
I have not ridden in the passenger seat.
I like the seat hugging sensation in the driver's seat.

I let my brother-in-law drive my car in return he let me drive his M3. Make him feel what an American V8 is all about. He was impressed same as I with his ride. But my wife is a different story, I don't think she can handle a V8 lol...

I took my wife to ok the purchase of a new 2003 coupe cobra (10th aniv.) at Ford dealer I had hope to trade in my 2004 Gt and wanted her approval. She sat in it and eyed another left over new 2003 10th convertible on same lot and told me to sell my 88 Gt convert. and buy the convertible.Impressed me! She drives it when ever see wants and I trust her even with traction control off, she is addicted to the whine of supercharger, I can only imagine what goes on when she is alone with the Cobra, our favorite slang at the stoplight is "Burn rubber Kermit". I let my brother drive it about oncce a month just for his cobra fix plus I get to listen to him drive it like it should be driven while I stand in his yard. Those Spin-Tech exhaust or rightous. Let him drive them cause next month they may have a vehicle you really want to drive.

I responded "Once, never again. Frightening." I let a buddy of mine drive her because he hounded me for 6 months and if I didn't he would of kept at it. Oh, I was a nervous wreck...I'll just keep it at that.

I'm not sure if we are over protective or just selfish... Maybe a little of both.

I let my old mechanic/friend who tuned up my 3000 GT VR-4 to ovwer 400hp. He is now a prep guy for Ferrari North America in Englewood NJ. Ferrari would not even let him drive a Ferrari until he did one week of driving school at Lime Rock. He is one of only two prep guys that prep EVER Ferrari coming into the US. Including the Enzo & the new F430 Spider which will be at the show. In short the guy knows how to drive. He could believe how quick my car was. He drove it after he put the MGW in it. He says it feels as fast as the F360 but the new F430 will run away from it. I will NEVER let him drive it again or atleast with me in it. My seat still has a wet spot. Only I can drive my car that fast

It gets better. I get in my car Monday the drivers seat has been loose but thr dealer kept telling me "normal operation. So I saddle myself in Monday before *AM and what happens the seat snaps & I end up in the back seat! had to drive the car 30 miles to the dealer from almost in the back seat. Im 6 ft 7 inches and I could barely get my foot to the clutch! I will say one thing about ford, they ordered the parts yesterday and they were installed this morning and the car is ready to be picked up tonite. I figured SVT seat/part at least a week but not the case. Not thrilled about it breaking especially since i told them it was going but fixed in one day is acceptable to me. Besides it need a 20k service anyway
mcflysvt04 How did your seat fix turn out? I have a small "wiggle" in my drivers seat (it will rock just a little). Is this how yours started?
Now on to a story about a time I let my brother drive my 89 G.T. His wife had a new 89 or 90 Labron vert that I had never driven. I finally got to drive it home (with her in it) from our parents anaversery dinner. When he left the lot he was sideways and running over all the construction cones (the short ones) and drug one under the car for a mile before it popped out. I looked at her and said that I should run over that damn cone as well. Boy did she give me the "look" so I didn't. For this reason he will never drive my Cobra!!!!!!!
Our police chief is wanting a ride in the Cobra when I take it out of winter storage I don't know if I will let him drive it or not. But I did tell him he has to be in uniform for the ride so we will not be pulled over. :spinem:

They fixed it but its starting to wiggle again. Get it checked out b/c it will only get worse. You dont want to have to drive it from the back seat like I did. Lok under the seat for any loose bolts
Thanks. Was it just loose bolts, or did something break? :knock:

No the bolts were losse. I reported it three times and it came back "normal condition' but then I found two screws under the seat. the next day I got in and it broke
