Thanks to a fellow SVTOA member (and a pretty darn good instructor, as well), here is a web site he stumbled across that is a GREAT deal on an SA2000 rated helmet.
http://www.soloracer.com/pyrohelmetclr.html
Keep in mind, if you plan on attending one of our SVTOA On Track programs (or pretty much anyone else's driving schools for that matter...), SA rated helmets are MANDATORY! This is the last year you can use an SA95 rated helmet... so this SA00 helmet (if you take care of it) will last you a long, long time an won't be superseded until 2010 or 2011!
If these are already gone, fear not... there are several other places you can turn that have "SVTOA-member" prices on helmets:
http://www.dariusrudis.com for Simpson helmets - Thanks Darius!
http://www.jb203.com for Pyrotec helmets - Thanks Jonathan and John!
http://www.racerwholesale.com for G-Force helmets...
And there are many others...
Shop EARLY... you don't want to be stuck at a track using one of the overly-sweated-in (and limited number) loaner helmets, DO YOU?
And why do we require SA rated helmets? Before you buy a new bucket (helmet), read this, http://www.soloracer.com/helmettech.html
See you on track! :bna
