Is it just me or is this an outright copy of the GR-1? The GR-1 pics have been around for months but the Chrysler Firepower is brand new, pretty amazing huh?

Both have Daytona written all over them.

The Ford should look like a Daytona, That's why 'Ol Shel is leaning on it.

The Chrysler is based off the Viper platform with the 425hp Hemi.

Check this link to some pics of the running prototype. The one in the pic above with Shelby is a mock up.

I would say that they both stole the idea for the body from Aston Martin

the first pic of the the concept DB9. the second pic is from the actuall DB9.
Forget about the fact that Ford Owns Aston Martin. Aston Martin has there own designers. Therefore the body at least is not either Ford or Dodges idea.
Sorry for the long post. Just my $0.02.

Not sure if everyone knows, but catch the show RIDES on TLC. There was a show talking about the GR-1.
The spin is that this wasn't some magical creation from Carroll Shelby or J. Mays. A designer named George Saridakis drew up the original concept. He is from Europe (I think a mix of Greek and British). If the entire vehicle has some Aston Martin cues...well...it could be from Saridakis being exposed more to European cars. Mays commented how Saridakis reminded him of himself when he was younger. And, Saridakis only came over to the US recently.
All I can hope for is more creative folks at Ford's design studios. Maybe they can kick the designers of the Five Hundred, Freestyle, and the Focus in the arse and get some really nice designs coming in the showroom.
