i am about to purchase the following parts for my cobra and am wondering what you guys think about it.

1) MAC catback exhuast
2) spin tech or bassani or mac x-pipe w/high flow cats
3) mac intake system
4) diablo chip
5) +4 psi pulley

as for the questions here they go......

anybody have an opinion about the x-pipes which is best for the dollar?

do you think that i should wait for changing the x-pipe until i get some new headers, and just run it with the cat-back with the other mods for a while?

has anyone installed the pulley without the chip? or do i need the chip to help the computer cope with the boost increase?

any help would be great thanks

I like Bassani stuff! But others make good X pipes and exhaust systems. If you do a pulley, do a chip! Why save $300 and destroy a 12,000 motor? Do a cold air kit, they all give pretty much the same results on a modded car. You've got to get air in, to get power out!

I have the Bassani 5-piece x-pipe and I run the cats right now. I've like both Bassani mid-pipes that I've owned.

Adding the mid-pipe now won't affect anything with regards to the installation of headers and will net you some power now :). There's some pretty good gains from swapping the mid-pipe.

I've seen some cars wtih pulleys without any tuning and it looks like upper pulley's under 3.1, or a boost increase of around 3 psi, might be safe without a chip. Any more boost and the AFR leans out too much, as far as I'm concerned.

As far as exhaust goes. IMO Bassani is the way to go. It may be more expensive but the fitment, sound, quality, and gains are excellent. I'm running it without cats right now and if you like it loud this is the way to go. I'm thinking of re-installing them during the winter months to quiet it down before it comes back out in the spring.

As far as a chip and pulley I'm currently shopping for both. I'm definitely going to have a chip installed and a proper tune after installing the pulley.

Would like to install system on my 2003 Cobra but here in Wisc. u have to run with cats on. What is your suggestion so as to improve the sound quility & maybe some extra HP ? But I have to stay street legal.

Oh ya, what will replacing the chip do?

:) :)

I have the setup you are asking about, minus the intake system. I went with the Bassani hi-flows. I have heard that the chip is needed for fuel/air concerns. I dynoed mine after the work and got 448 rwhp and 501 rwtq.

Hope this helps.

P.S. The exhaust sounds awesome with the Bassani X pipe.
