bleh, why do so many CSVTs have spoilers?

In looking at the used market I see so many SVT contours with spoilers. WHat is the deal there? Did a lot of dealers add them or something, because people I ask say they were always on the car. I think that spoiler looks like crap (again personal opinion). So what's the story? officially they never came with spoilers right?

A past member added one to his Contour. I think it, pardon the pun, spoiled the look......

If you're talking about the little stock wing on them, it was an available option from the factory. There were only like two or three options available, and all were free, so most people took them. They were the wing, a CD player (or casette..) and the sunroof.

If you're talking about aftermarket stuff...I agree with your opinion.

I know this is an old ass question, but IIRC, almost all of the 99+ got spoilers. You had to request NOT to have one on those years, where as the 98s you had to ask for one...
