I have the audiophile system and figured someone here would know who its made by for Ford. Also, anyone have a clue what wattage that amp is on top of the sub?

I believe it is 80. Visteon makes the setup.
^^^^Yep^^^^Visteon.
However, according to a couple other forums, Visteon contracts out the work.
Some folks have pulled the unit, and seen a Blaupunkt stamp on it. :wtf:
BTW, the amp for the sub is 290watts according to the fOCUS brochure,
and the SVT Ford.com website.
Clicky (http://www.svt.ford.com/vehicleFocusSpecs.asp) and scroll down to options.

Actually, the entire system is rated at 290watts MAX! In other words, the stereo is probably rated as follows:
50wx4 Max per channel for front and rear (Standard on most unit's) and
90wx1 for the sub amp.
What this actually means is that you have somewhere in the neighborhood of about 23w continuous on the front and rear speakers and about 45w continuous on the sub. Not so great if you ask me. If I had the money, I'd invest in some decent amps and then some speaker upgrades if your an audiophile. If not, I think the system rocks as a standard (upgraded Audophile) setup.
If your limited on $$$, I'd replace the sub amp and maybe get a JBL 8" sub or the like. Pretty inexpensive, all the wiring is there, and all you need is a little wiring, some splicing skills and a little silicon. :bna

Yeah i think Blaupunkt may make it because looking at the regular focus book it says it on the top of the unit.

very interesting..
I havent gotten my owners manual yet, it was snatched outta the car before i bought it, so i dont know crap.lol
It seems like the new ones in the '05 focii are made by sony..
will ours play mp3? i burnt a straight mp3 cd and it didnt work, but the regular audio cd worked that i made. Also i thought maybe it would say the title of the song or cd on the disk that was playing, i guess not. bummer.
thanks everyone

I thought I had read on-line
that Monsoon (Delphi) furnished the Audiophile system (using parts no doubt from other manufacturers).

Visteon appears to make the following apps:
- stock AM/FM stereo
- stock AM/FM stereo + cassette
- stock AM/FM stereo + cd
- stock AM/FM + 6-disc CD
Blaupunkt made the AM/FM stereo/CD/mp3 player.

the audiophile system is a *******ization of one of the Mach systems Visteon makes. There is a page at Visteon that talks about our system, but the face plate is different.

here is our system, in an earlier form. They have a more universal front plate on it.

Interesting that that page lists MP3 compatibility as a feature. Surely this isn't just an unadvertised bonus that we're not aware of? If it were, I'd end my search for a decent iPod connectivity method.

lets clarify some things. What Visteon lists is an OEM platform. They can take our unit and add or remove different features to it. The MP3 feature was something Ford decided not to source for this unit, so that feature wasnt added. Could it? Who knows. If the circuitry is there and it just needed a firmware upgrade thats one thing, but I bet there is some circuit board that was never even designed that it needs.
Remember, an OEM will SAY they can do a lot of things, but they don't actually manifest themselves unless someone is willing to pay for it.

I totally understand all that. I work in IT, after all. If there was ever a business that thrives on what stuff can do (but your model won't) I think that's it.
But back me up here...would we all have paid another $100, $150 for the MP3 capability? I know I would have. Not that 6 CDs isn't enough, but it'd be nice to do less swapping around depending on my mood.

if the Sony audiophile in the 05s weren't so ugly I'd swap with it just to get the MP3 capability. Too bad you couldn't just swap the face.

So do they also make our speakers? I changed out the sub with a new fosgate punch sub that my buddy had and it didnt sound half as good as what we got. we were both suprised..

Catfish,
The reason it doesn't sound as good is probably because the sensitivity is way lower on your Fosgate Sub. Meaning, that it takes a lot more power to move the Fosgate sub than it did to move the stock sub, therefore the stock sub seems to run better. In truth, the Fosgate sub is probably superior in all aspects but needs alot more power to drive it. The measly 40w Cont/80w Max stock Amp is probably not even pushing the Sub past the "I can barely hear it" mark. Get a nice amp with enough power to drive the sub and you got yourself a sweet system.
Later :hehe:
