I have a buddy who has the RM Jammer in his GS6, actually two, one forward one back. He swears they keep him outta a lot of tickets. Anyone else using these things? Am looking a getting a pair for the Cobra. Any mounting hints?

I bought one before my Cobra was delivered. A couple of times cops have given me some puzzeled looks. No tickets so far.:cbra:

I was told years ago by an engineer that designed HARM missiles that effective radar jammers for cars would be prohibitively expensive, not to mention illegal. LASER is another matter, and can be effectively jammed, though it has to be done on a much narrower beam.

Personally, I use the Escort 8500 and try to pay attention to what is happening around me. I still believe this is the most effective anti-ticket system out there. YMMV

Wow checked the web site. Now I dont know what to think.I dont know what to believe. I've read of tests done by other police depts. saying how well they worked, and some states have made them illegal. Could this just be a smoke screen to keep people from using them? I hate to think I just threw away 350$.I think I'll call RMR just to hear what they say.I wish I had known about this web site sooner. I'm pissed. Oh well easy come easy go. Any one want to buy a cheap detector jammer?:wtf:

Tell me about it, I have been looking at the jammers my own self and came across this site and I'm in the same boat. The wife wants one also but I'm going to wait until I get more info. Sorry if I made your head hurt just thought I'd share the pain.

 Ken Cobra-1 operative words were "years ago".
The industry is making lightyear leaps in technology. I have a
report, from an independent agency, years ago that verified
Rocky Mountains Claims!!
There is a catch, as is life, when you get to with 100/150' of the
shooter, you better be legal!!
So you see Its a Jammer/Radar combined - it works if the
driver does! bluesonic

Well, I don't think the reasons he cited have changed. To be a truely effective jammer, the device has to A) put out enough energy to blow out the signal of the originating radar or B) read the incoming signature and return a spike at the same wavelength as that incoming signal.

Both A & B get into the realm of the F.C.C., and are probably illegal.

Both A & B also are illegal based on the federal law of confusing or rendering inoperative police speed detection equipment, or however the law is worded.

However, even if the above was not true, A would require a high output transmitter, and I don't think that is what the RMR unit is. B would require sophisticated electronics on a par with our Wild Weasel aircraft designed to lock onto and destroy enemy radar, either through ECM or HARM missiles. Somehow, I don't think THAT is what the RMR unit is either.

If you want to believe it...that's cool. It is your right. Personally, I would tend to disbelieve it until I could test it myself, or see tests performed by independent third parties that I trusted.

:) B - IS THE CORRECT ANSWERE. THE UNIT SENDS A RETURN
CHIRP 315 & AGAIN 15, THE UNIT HAS TO HAVE TO CHIRPS
CONCURRENT TO LOCK THE HWP RADAR - BAM!
I'VE HAD THIS UNIT(NEWER) FOR APPROX 5YRS. HAVE
FRIENDS ON THE MS HWP & HAVE TESTED MORE THAN
ONCE!! IT WORKS UP TO THE 100/150' DISTANCE.
I REPEAT "ITS NOT A GUESS - ITS A FACT".

MAYBE GEORGIA HWP HAS A DIFFERENT RADAR SYS.!

I AM A NAVY CONTRACTER & DO CURRENT WORK ON
THE VLS WEAPONS SYS & THE AEGIS EYE!

BE CAREFULL WITH ROCKY MTN RADAR. THEY HAVE BEEN IN TROUBLE HERE IN COLORADO FOR FALSE CLAIMS OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. EVERY TIME NEW PRODUCTS COME ON THE MARKET, THEY CLAIM THEIR PRODUCTS ARE BETTER. CHECK OUT THIS WEB SITE FOR MORE INFO: TROUBLESHOOTER.COM USE THE SEARCH ICON.

Hey Blue...ok, (and I am not arguing with you) let's say it works for X band, what about K, Ka, instant on Ka, etc.? All of these work at different frequencies. How does the unit know which frequency to spike in a time frame fast enough to be useful? IIRC, the Ka spectrum is something like 2.6 gigahertz! That would require quite the processor to pick out the frequency, add something to it, and return it in a useful time frame. Most cops around here use Ka, the low power Ka, or instant on Ka. They also are using LIDAR (LASER) more and more.

Here is a link to a site that sells reconditioned police radar units. On it, the have this report written a few years ago: http://www.pbelectronics.com/radar_jammers.htm and may even be the same one above. Again, I am not arguing against the RMR unit, but if it worked for all of the above, don't you think many of these sites would upgrade their information? (BTW, notice that in some caes, it actually ADDED speed to the reading, and increased the lock distance!)

I was at work today when I snapped. We Work on city and state police vehicles. After the first of the year I will test my RMR jammer with the different radar units in these cars. Then based on the results I will either keep or dump the jammer. At least I'll be able to see it for myself. I'm very happy with the detection part of the system. :cbra:

When you test, please do so at ranges and distances they use when they actually nab speeders. I have no doubt these things may do something at close range. My question is do they actually do something at the range that is used when you are being clocked for the ticket? Talk to the officers and see what they are trained to do to set up for tickets that can't be successfully challenged in court. And PLEASE let us know what the results are!

I'm like Ken use the Escort and hope I can get slowed down whwn it goes off. some times they shoot you when you are so close it's hard to get back down to speed. Only had two tickets in 30 yr, not a bad record. Rachrse

Ken - I am in process of buying 3rd Gen "Stealth" which has
wrap around Laser shield.

You are very Knowledgable on this subject! Please
keep me informed on any/all test results - I'll let you
know how good the Laser shield works. Bluesonic

Since Laser seems to be the newest gadget the cops are playing with, I am very interested in how the newer generation of devices work. On a recent trip back from the drag strip, my Laser detector went off 6 times! One time I was sure it was me that he had, but he got the car slightly ahead and to the right of me! ;)

If you know any cops with Laser devices where you can test your shield, please let us know the results of such a test, and the type of Lidar unit that was used. :) I don't think I would trust ANY marketing hype until I had some form of thrid party test, or ran one myself!
