Has the MSRP changed at all? Still at $150,000USD or so.

If that's the case, then where's the difference profit go from George's GT?
Was it a lottery thing? Or he walked into a dealership and paid that? That'll definetly make a dealer's month I would imagine. :)

Well thats about the MSRP. 150,000. But the with all the really rich people trying to get one and telling dealers that they will pay allot more. :knock:

Well, for $150K you're in the realm of the Lamborghini Gallardo, the Aston DB9, and the Ferrari 360. The new Maserati Gransport (hot version of the Coupe) is around $115K fully loaded, and people like Porsche and M-B have some pretty muscular stuff on the shelves when you get to that price range too.

All of which is my forecast that the Ford GT will come down to its MSRP or less once the initial novelty's worn off. I'm not knocking the car - just pointing out that when you start waving $150K around, there's plenty of Exotic fun you can find for it!

Talked with a California dealer today who said he's been offered $250K for his first one!

Shades of the end of the '80s, when Ferraris were being bid up through the roof. However at the beginning of the '90s the balloon burst, and there were lots of lost shirts around.

I would say: If you're interested in the GT, wait for a couple of years until the market finds its water level. Thus might you retain your shirt. :)

Our dealer/sponser has 2 GT's listed @ 268,000.00 but msrp is 150.000.
I wonder what options are installed to bring the price up an additional 118,000.00

I don't understand how Ford or for that matter allows these markups! :frn:

Capitalism, my friend.

They tried in the past with SVT vehicles to control mark up. Some dealers challenged it and Ford was told that it is price fixing to tell someone they can only charge "x" amount for something that they now own to sell.

Just my $.02

So how does Harley Davidson control pricing?

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Do they. I can remember when Harley could not build enough bikes and a client went to Texas from Oklahoma to get one. When I asked why he said the Tulsa dealer had $2500 mark up and the Texas dealer was only marking it up $1000 over the MSRP. It is supply and demand.

It is not just Ford. Any hot car model has this happen to them. Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Chevy it makes no difference. If people are willing to pay more, then they will sell it for more.

That's why I went to a distant dealer to get my car. I wasn't paying $6K over sticker for my car. I can't imagine paying ~$100k over sticker... :jawdrop:

Autoweek mag ad section lists some GTs for sale from as "low" as $234K to $285K :wow:

I still think Ford went wrong in pricing this GT so high. I took a closer look at the beast and I'd say $60K to $75K should've been more real. Lots of Porsches out there around that range. Can you imagine a herd of GTs on the road if they were "affordable"?? :hehe:

But Ford is having so many problems with the GT, will it ever be as good as we hoped?

There haven't been that many problems...
