Recently, I had an issue with my back up lights not turning on when I put my car into reverse gear. I checked with my multimeter and I do have power at the light switch harness. I run down to Discount Auto Parts and the say they have to order it. OK, so I order it. Next day comes and I go pick it up. It's a GP Sorensen part number LT7 back-up light switch for an automatic. Automatic back-up light switches have flat blade terminals as seen here. This first one is through Advance/Discount Auto Parts.

The T-5 back-up light switches ALL have threaded terminals like the one I list below, the LT14.
After checking their computer again the only other switches they show in there is the clutch pedal neutral switch and the transmission neutral safety switch. So I got creative using Advance/Discount Auto Parts' search function on their website ( www.partsamerica.com ) and started typing in LT1 through LT14. LT14 is where I stopped. I found a match with the LT14 seen here from Advance's website.

NAPA (where I ended up buying the switch from in the end) has their system half assed. On their website ( www.napaautoparts.com ) they correctly list the back-up light switch for the T-5s (which is Echlin NS-6491), but in their store computers they don't. When I ordered it through them I figured I didn't have to take the part number with me because the part number came up correct on the site. Wrong, they ended up getting me the same switch I got from Discount Auto. I never read the receipt after I ordered it because I didn't think anything of it. Lesson learned. Back-up light switch on NAPA's site.

Before having gone to NAPA I had found a part number from Autozone's website. It is Wells part number F404. This part number can be cross referenced on NAPA's website and in NAPA's stores. This is how I found the correct NAPA part number. So in the end I figure a lot of you Mustang people out there might have to deal with your back-up lights not coming on and that I will not be the only one who has/had to deal with this running around so I hope I can save some of you guys the trouble by posting this small list of part numbers for future reference.
Echlin NS-6491 (NAPA; not always in stock)
Wells F404 (Autozone two-day order)
GP Sorensen LT14 (Advance/Discount Auto Parts next day order)
Note: The Echlin brand back-up switch has a Ford part number on it which is E0ZR-15520-AA in case you want to try getting one of these straight through the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealerships. This also applies to the Ford Motorsport/Tremec T-5"Z".
