There's still time to get in on the SCMC driving school. Quite a few local people are attending (http://www.svtcobraclub.com/forums/showthread.php?p=129467)
Click here (http://www.svtcobraclub.com/indexfiles/SCMC%20Gingerman%20Entry%20Form2004.pdf) for a registration form.

Larry, OK I have a Vert, no roll bar. Besides a helmet what do I need if I want to attend?

Jim ran this event a few years ago without a roll bar, but they will restrict verts to the beginner or intermediate run groups I believe. They don't allow motorcycle type helmets.
All you need to do is just fill out the form and mail your check :cool:

I have a friend in Michigan pushing me to go. He said I'd need to have my brakes bleed and new pads installed. You saw me at the Ford day. You know I don't drive fast so the intermediate would be fine. :wtf:

For the kind of mileage you probably have, I think your pads would be fine (till you got back home anyway). Bleeding your brakes would be a good idea though, actually I think they may require it :wow: It takes me much longer to put the car on jack stands and remove the tires than it does to bleed the brakes. Too bad our mutual partner in crime is busy building a house, I hear he's got a nice car lift in his barn. :hehe:

Larry, while this event sounds really cool and I want to do a track event I just have too much going on this month! Now I have to write to my Mustang friend Larry in Michigan and tell him I'm going to take a pass on Gingerman.
We'll be at the Kane County Fair Grounds next week for their show on Sunday. It is just old ones. I heard that Zimmerman Ford in St Charles is having a Ford Show on Saturday. I have no details.
I will order a helmet this month so I have 1 less excuse for next year! Are you going to the strip at all this fall? Still waiting for the S type. :knock:

Hey Rick;
There is still one more track event this fall. The SVTOA on track at IRP in Indianapolis. Since it is SVTOA they are even more friendly to convertibles and they will have loaner helmets ( although its nice to have your own ). SVTOA instructors and support will be there as will Kenny Browns people, so if you have a problem with brakes etc the support is there. SVTOA does make you drive with the top up however; not sure why some clubs make you put it down and others up? I have already signed up for Gingerman and I'm getting ready to send in my form for Indy. As for brakes... I'm sure you have plenty of pad left. They normally recommend you have at least half of your original pads when you get there. I change my pads at the track and it takes me about 30 min total. You propably wont drive as hard as I do so you won't even notice the wear, I didnt on my first on track.
Take a look at the Oct date, the weather should be great for a drive to Indy. :)

Hey Jim,
Are you still camping at the track?
I was gonna just drive up and back on Saturday, but that's too much for one day. If we camp I can arrive Friday evening and leave Sunday afternoon so I can relax and have some fun :beer:

Just give me a call the Thursday before so we both don't both bring all the same stuff again.

[QUOTE=Snoopy]Hey Rick;
Jim, I just signed up for a big and expense work conference in San Diego that starts during the 10/08 week end. Once I saw the dates it was really bummed. The Indy one sounds great.
I am planning to take some time off later in the month and maybe take the 03 to Kenny Brown. They are going to send me a list of recommended basic stuff!
The K&N cold air intake seems very popular along with about 6 different cat back systems. :huh:. They also recommend the subframe stuff first.
Oh well so much to do so little time and money!

Hi,
I'm signed up to go to Gingerman and Indy. SCMC is running Gingerman and they require the vehicle to be inspected and signed off by a reputable service facility prior to the event. The brake fluid must be changed 6 weeks before the event also and the pads need at least 50% material. This was in the information package on the web. What day and time do you plan on going?
Bill
