What an awesome event! I had a fantastic time! Thanks to Brian for putting together this awesome event, Jeff for being a great instructor(Mr. Evil Dawg, indeed!), Brian's wife Gina (what a gal!)for doing so much, Bill Kniegge, Ed (for the GT!) and all of the instructors for sharing their time and experience! I have to agree! A great event! As I was driving back to New Jersey I couldn't help thinking about the office slogan that Bill K had mentioned."DO you have any idea what I was doing yesterday" I've been hitting the on ramps and off ramps differently already.And why is everyone around here driving so slow!!!I would also like to add my thanks to the instructors, especially John "the road master" and Will for some very helpful advice.Also to Joe and andy, Sorry you didn't get a chance to drive my Cobra at speed.I would have enjoyed that. Joe, if I missed the chalk session you mentioned., I'm real disappointed. I hope to hear from you guys. Don't know if I can wait a full year for the next one.

I was one of the multitude of FNG's at the event this weekend. I don't remember the last time I had so much fun. When I wasn't driving on the track, I was looking for an instructor with an empty passenger seat. I have to admit, riding with Gary in his Focus was one of the most amazing and enlightening (did I mention violent?? :eek: ) rides I've ever been on. My wife had two questions when I got home:

1) How long is it going to take for that grin to go away??

2) What is that hook doing in your mouth??

I now understand why folks drive hundreds of miles to attend an event like this. Now, if I can just get my wife to understand..... :D

Thanks Cliff! Let me guess, the first rule of Race Club for Men is that we don't talk about Race Club for Men??? :p

Seriously, I have felt very welcome even though I don't drive a SVT product (I drive a True Blue Bullitt Mustang).

As a FNG on the track, I really had no idea what to expect. I was late to the meet-n-greet on Friday, courtesy of Friday afternoon traffic and hoped that wasn't a glimpse of things to come. The rain had me kinda worried because I still have the original Goodyear Eagles on my car and they suck in the rain.... did when they were new and age hasn't helped them any.

I had a hell of a good time and I'm looking forward to getting on the track again ASAP. My wife vetoed the idea of driving out to IRP in October, so it looks like I'll be waiting until next spring to run with the Track Dawgs from the Race Club for Men.

I'm working on digitizing some of the video I shot at the event. I'm hoping to get it up some time this weekend.

Well, I married a girl who grew up around cars.... her father currently has two hot rods and has had countless others over the years. She gets the whole car enthusiast thing. I think I lost her a bit when I started talking about finding a used car hauler so I could tow the Bullitt out to IRP for the SVTOA on track in October. I guess she won't truly understand why I want to get back out on the track until I let her take the Bullitt for a couple of laps herself.

Were you another "spin-out" guy like me?

Yep, only once wasn't enough for me... I went around in both the second and third sessions. Same place you did, while attempting to exit turn 7. I figure if you're gonna spin out, you might as well have an audience. I got loose every time I started up the hill in turn 1, but I managed to save it every time. I was really surprised the first time I went around exiting 7.... and the second time I felt it coming, did everything I could to save it, then dumped the clutch and went along for the ride.

I had Gary Kole in the car with me on the second spin..... he's over there saying "Wee!! I love spins!!!". Nice to get positive feedback from your instructor even when you f-up. I've got video of the first spin. I'll try to get it digitized and posted soon.

I did a total of 4 wipe-outs the entire weekend. 3 in the rain and one in the dry on Sunday. (There must have been some really slick snot on the track!) :spinem:
