Got a chance to run against a new 2003 Cobra with my all-motor 347... Nice MPH for that new stocker, but ET is what wins the race.... :D If the video does not run the first time, refresh and it will... Nice tower view-

Nice!
I thought the 03 cobra would run a little faster than that.

To be fair- I've been racing a long time, and I cut a pretty decent light, so I kinda left him at the line. Hisw MPH was pretty good, this was bone-stock '03 Cobra. If I was driving his car, I think I might have been able to beat my '94. Does that make sense??

It was a 1.70. I had a little better one on this run, but almost identical ET.. (different race day, also had jack, spare, extra gas in the tank...)

I wished MY time slips looked like that!!! This is my best so far, but it is in street trim, 1/2 tank of gas, on the stock bfg's. However, the next time I make it to the strip, I DO now have drag radials to try to get the 60' times down. (and a Hurst Roll Control to get them heated up properly!) :D BTW, I am car #1...

Yeah, but with a Lightning pulley, a K&N and some slicks they will! :D Wish mine would pick up so much for so little!

Bring it up and play it again. The same thing happened to me. The second time I brought it up, it worked fine.

Heheh...thanks! It is one of the old man's secret weapons! ;) :D
BTW...that run was against a pretty modded GT that came up and said "I can beat a stock Cobra! Wanna race?" I said sure... I love leaving my car look stock!

Thanks for the tip.
Powershifting is the key for better ET's with the 03. I was practicing it a little last night and I could tell a definite difference. After driving for almost 20 years it's kind of unnatural to keep that gas pedal floored with the clutch in though.:)

Tell me you have an aftermarket shifter on the car, please???? The stock shifter is NOT made for quick, precise shifts (unless it is very much better than the stock one on the '01) and will stress the tranny. A Pro 5.0 is what I use, and I wouldn't try a speed shift/power shift without it! I just missed to many 2-3 shifts with the stock shifter!

I have a Tri-ax in my 92 with a T-56. I miss more shifts with that than I do in the 03. If I miss in the 03, it just won't go into third. it hits inbetween the gates. If I miss in the 92, it goes into 1st on 2nd to 3rd shift or 2nd on a 3rd to 4th shift.http://216.40.241.68/cwm/cwm/eek5.gif
The gates seem to close with the Tri-ax. I am installing the MGW handle in the 03. From what I hear people say that handle and loosing some of the rubber isolaters in the handle help give a firmer feel.

Well, in my 99 GT and in the '01 Cobra, I had NO problems on the 2-3 shift EVER trying to go to 1st with the Pro 5.0! The 2-3 is automatic. I have a bud that will have the Pro 5.0 in his '03 next weekend, and I am going to drive it and see if there is a difference between it and the 01 model. I'll let you know what I think. However, from the sounds of it, you're pretty comfortable with the stock shifter. If you're happy with it...it's your ride!

Like I said, nice R/T!!! :D
When you run those DR's, you should pick up quite a bit on the 60 foot department. Experiment with tire pressure and launch RPM and you should run a decent ET.

Yeah, I have to watch it because I can red light very easily in the Cobra. If I go when I want to go, I get a .459 red light! So I wait for the third amber, say" Co" to myself, and go on "bra". I normally cut between a .510 and .530 light. It helps shock the young-uns! ;)
That run was with 3 hops on launch and 3 hops on the 1-2 shift. No hops on the 2-3. I am hoping the dr's will not only cut the 60' times, but will also do away with the hops. If they do, I think there is another .4-.5 in the car easily. But that is a guess. Drag2000 says the car should be capable of 12.89 with 1.8 60' times. I would be VERY happy with a 12.9x! :tmb:

I agree. I also use the Pro 5.0 Shifter. :) I only missed a couple of times with the stock shifter before it was history. My son has a 93 LX with Hurst shifter. I let him drive my car one (1) time at the local strip. He missed 3th and BLEW the heads off. That's the problem with Superchargers. Lots of Power Right Now.
Oh well, can't be to upset. I blew them off a couple of month before and since my son is a Ford Factory Trained Master Derivability Technician, he does most of the work on the SSSNAKE anyway.

To me personally, the Pro 5.0 is a MUST mod...but I realize others prefer a different feel to their shifter and just tell em to drive cars with different shifters and get the one that feels right to them. :)
Pretty sweet deal to have a son that will fix you car whenever you break it! :tmb: I might be a bit more aggressive if that were the case with me. :haha:
