I was wondering if anyone out there knows the story behind how Ford came up with the name Terminator as a code name for our Cobras ? I'm sure there is an interesting explanation behind it. Any help getting the right story would be appreciated. Have a safe 4th of July folks !!

So, when Ford was designing the SN-95 in '92/93 for debut in 1994, two body designs floated to the top. One was called "Stallone", the other was called "Schwarzenegger". The design that finally wound up as the 1994 SN-95 was "Schwarzenegger".
I don't know for a fact, but I'll bet that influenced the moniker "Terminator" :). To think it could have been the "Judge Dredd" ;).

Belive it was coined by John Coletti after his dissapointment in the slated 02 Cobra prototype. Instead of the dog he had disapointedly test drove, he said that SVT would go back to the drawing boards to make a "Terminator" that would indeed smoke the competition.

Greg, since you are our connection to the SVT "Big Guys", like John Coletti, is it possible for you to check on this one and let us know for sure how the moniker "Terminator" was given to our Cobras ? I always wondered myself if there was a tie to the SN-95 code name of Schwarzenegger, since he was the Terminator. But it could just be a coincidence, as well. Your assistance in helping to respond to the "inquiring minds", would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

ABell is correct guys... It wasn't anything to do with the moniker for the rejected body style...
