How many use their Cobras as a daily driver and plan to drive it in the winter? If I get one it will have to be my dd and should I get all the protection stuff or just wash it a bunch?
Thanks
Roy
Daily driver here, but with the top down mostly.

I drive mine every day (raining today :P). Wash it every weekend. But we have mild winters in this part of New Mexico.
Daily driver here. I have a 1986 Volvo that I never plan to drive again =>).

Daily driver, as well. My philosophy is:
"A car was meant to be driven; if you want a paperweight, go to buy one"

I'll use my '03 vert year round in the Boston area, as I've done with other fast stangs for many years. A good coat of wax and weekly washings work fine.
As far as driving in the snow with these cars, you need to use good winter tires and common sense. I'm using 225/50/17 Blizzaks on 17" '99 cobra rims. The narrow tire helps and being Q rated is fine is you keep it under 100 for the few months they're on. I won't go up to ski country in it, but for commuting to and from work, in the two snow storms we've had so far, it went well. The traction control, which I don't like on dry roads, works pretty good in the slippery stuff.
Enjoy it year round, this car is too much fun to put away for any period of time.

I have a 2003 Cobra and either my wife or I drive the car everyday. We would be in the car 24 hr a day if we didn't have job's and just have't to stop to sleep.Rachrse

I love my '03 Cobra. And would like to drive it every day. However mileage, traffic and tire wear are not that great. On the other hand, I love riding as well and use my Hayabusa daily (see my gallery). The Cobra is for weekends only. :p Besides, the lower the mileage and no mods, will make it hold its value ;) IMO.

This is my only car so - yes it's a daily driver for me.

Daily driver here also. I just turned 7000 miles today. No problems, and I've had it since June 11. It's got 8 layers of Zaino Z2, so it is definitely protected for this winter.
Have fun!

Well, I guess I must be spoiled. Mine is driven on the weekends, and only in fair weather. Here in San Diego, we have fair weather most of the time. I know the car won't melt, but I'd rather not get out in the traffic when it's wet. Too many crazy drivers out there that don't know how to drive in the rain for me!:bna :bna :bna :bna :bna :bna

Hello all, Minnesota winters and driving a 2003 Cobra just doesn't sound like a fun time to me. My car has been put in hibernation until the spring. It is even covered up with a nice warm blanket. I m looking forward to spring already!

Mine is almost a daily driver. To and from work and on "date nights" with the wife. I only have 1,700 miles on it but as soon as I hit 5,000 I will take it to Qualcom and race on the 1/8 mile track. I saw a Silver Lightning there the other week just beating the s**t out of the Import's and even a couple of 2000ish GT's. But back to the subject, my Cobra normally get's driven about 5 days a week.

Sorry. NOT a daily driver here! Right now my Cobra is all snuggled up for the winter, next to my '67 'Stang. Now that I have 2 'Stangs, they won't get lonely during the winter.

my sister drives hers every day. She has had it since the beginning of august and already has over 5,000 miles on it.
has a few conditions like a clutch with the flu and the driveshaft doesn't want to be a driveshaft, it would like to be a pager vibrator.

So far mine is a daily driver. It will be switched off to a part time car once I get my Exp back from the shop. Right now it is too fun driving and I look forward to hopping behind the wheel every morning.

Drive mine daily and every chance I get. I hear the wife or kids need something picked up I volunteer immediately. Wasn't quite so eager before. Hmmm wonder why??? Every time this happens my wife says "You just want to drive the car! Take the van!" Love that woman!!!
Daily driver here. Having second thoughts with the recent wet weather here in Los Angeles.

I notice the majority of the "Daily Drivers" are from "Sunshine" states. I don't see to many "Snow" state daily drivers.
I wonder how many of the bosterous Sunshine State Daily Drivers would be willing to drive their Cobras through the snowy, salty streets of Michigan and Maine, in January. I bet few would!
Hmmmm....

Bhartman, do you drive your Cobra in the snow?
I'm right down the road from you.
I picked my 03 up from the dealer two weeks ago today. Of course my first full day of ownership was spent gazing at my car in the garage as 8" of snow fell outside. I did take it out the next day (had to). It actually wasn't that bad driving in slightly slippery conditions. The traction control worked as I hoped and got to work and bakc without a problem.
In the future I'll drive it in the cold weather but try to minimize any snow driving
Good luck with yours
Jack

krman68,
Hope you're enjoying you're new Cobra. Mine is garage bound until:
1. The last snow.
2. There's been enough rain to wash all of the salt off the roads.
Until that time, I'll have to settle for running around in my beat-up 4x4.
Where did you get yours? I got mine at Bethlehem Ford.

Glad to hear your 03 will be safe and sound until spring. mine is envious !!
I'm awaiting the return of my SUV from the body shop - then the Cobra will stay inside for better part of the winter.
I got mine from John Kennedy Ford in Conshohocken. My wife actually located it as a surprise for my birthday. Great woman !!
It was on order (unsold) and we snatched it up before it got built.
So far so good - It runs great - no problems.

I ordered mine, without telling my wife, bak in February. It was delivered late and I was no longer in the country to take delivery. My wife got to take delivery and drive it first! My wife had the car for a month before I even got to see it!

Mine will be opportunistic if the weather is decent I will switch off between the Bullitt and the Cobra. I just can't see letting it set there all winter and not drive it safety of course being a factor. Snow I can handle ice is another thing. Thanks for the responses oh and you fair weather friends don't count.:haha: Jealous? of course I'm jealous:p

Drove my 86 GT conv in Germany spring, summer, fall, and winter. Dunlop SP8000s in the snow, don't recommend it, stuck on snow tires kept on goin. The GT was a blast over there, wish I'd had the :cbra:, the bahn would've been awsome even in the snow. Had a few times of serious concentration keepin it between the shoulders. :bna The rain stopped yesterday had the top down this afternoon. Have a friend who lives in DC, he used to drive his Spitfire in the snow with the top off. Pretty funny to watch but he had fun.
