PhillyCobra isolated my last problem, Traction Control, Thanks!!

I thought I would run something else by the Forum. The local chat area recommended anything but HyperTech, SCT first and the Predator second.

Horse Power TV tested HyperTech's Power Programmer III on a '03 Cobra. The stock Cobra Dyno'd 364 HP @ the rear wheels and after programming it Dyno'd 407 HP. They stated that it does not void the warranty. It retails for $300+. Anyone have any experience with HyperTech and ramification on the warranty??

I am waiting for someone to answer that myself before I buy one.

I think there are several issues here.

1.) Warranty. Using one of these programs clearly COULD violate your warranty if it were discovered. However, the programmers allow you to reload the stock program if needed. Whether or not Ford can or would discover that you used another program is open to debate. Some people say you can trace the reprogramming if you really try, but I am unaware of anyone experiencing Ford doing this. In short, using a programmer is against your warranty, but probably wouldn't be discovered if you do it right.

2.) Performance. I think all the units out there are similar in terms of what they can do. However, I think you should only use these programmers if you back up your tune with a dyno run by a tuner. Otherwise you could risk operating problems (detonation, etc.) and won't get the optimum tune available. Given that, I would go with the device that the tuner you are going to likes to use. From what I've read, the new SCT has the best range of possible tunes and can allow you to load a variety of tunes easily for different purposes, so if I were to get one (which I might soon) I would go with SCT. I don't think many people have used the Hypertech compared to the Predator and SCT.

Remember that these devices can do other stuff besides change your A/F and timing at WOT. They allow you to change your redline, turn off Traction Control or Torque Management, change the temp your fans come on, etc.

Kinda wild you mentioned the 407 HP.. I was at a shop last weekend and the fella on the dyno when i showed up had an 04 cobra, magnaflow x and catbacks, and a steeda CAI. He got a Predator, custom tune, no pully.. and pulled 407 at the tires. Granted it was somewhere in the 90's outside and rather humid as well.

Just kinda emphasizes PhillyCobra's comment that "all the units out there are similar in terms of what they can do".
