2004 SVT Focus doing the same as 2003

Hey Guys,

I'm new at this but I did have a question about my 04 SVT.
I read that the 02 and 03's have a problem with hard to start/no start, rough idle under light load, lack of power off the line, slow to idle down from rpm and high idle. I have experienced all of those problems with my 04. I read something about a pcm upgrade, but it didn't sound like it purtained to the 04's. Whats up wit dat?

Well the PCM update is only for the 03's, apparently the YRFO was only meant as a fix and not an upgrade, the 04's have a code called ZED0 if im not mistaken, and it does have some of the performance improvements from the 02-03 update but apparently not the fixes, YRFO cannot be applied to the 04's because of a different fuel pump and some other minor things..

I've had my '04 since Feb. and the only problems I've had are the lack of power off the line and the surging. The lack of low end power is just the nature of the beast due to it's low torque. Mine was just in for its 3k oil change and I asked them to check to make sure that I'm current on the PCM. I'm not sure the out come... haven't seen the paperwork due to waiting on a replacement headrest. The other problems seem to be hit or miss with the '04's. Regardless, you'll love the SVTF, they're tons of fun! :tmb:

Out of curiosity, what do you mean when you say slow to idle down from rpm, and high idle? Mine seems to idle fairly fast when you start it up, and takes a while for the idle speed to slow down. However, once I start to drive, it slows down when idling, although it does run faster when the a/c is running. As far as idle quality, this car has an incredibly smooth idle that is even smoother than the idle in the Marauder................
