anyone else have any problems??
I currently have 36478 on the odo, go figure....
I assume it is rear wheel bearings. The noise just started..
it is a low moaning that changes with speed.
and does not go away with clutch in or out.
just wondering if it is something anyone else has come across.
Or had to deal with.

Rear wheel bearings haven't been known to go on an SVT. On a non-SVT Focus, you'll hear a howl at about 50mph...quiet...then howl again at about 80 mph.
It may be as simple as your tires. My Kumhos started to drone from the rear last month. I thought it was my wheel bearings. I rotated my tires and found the sound coming from the front. Gee...only thing I did was move the tires.
Your alignment may also be out causing improper wear on the tires. Also, your tires may just also becoming old and wearing down.

Hhhmmm interesting..
well I did just put on a new set of wheels that came with
Kuhmo R700's. They now have about 2000 miles on them.
I will have to take a look and see.
The tires are great.. I hope they dont wear screwy...
Thanks for the info.

Well this is not Tire noise, it is definately a wheel bearing gone bad.
It seems that a few other people have had problems with the right rear wheel bearing as well.. Anyone ever changed one of these themselves?
It seems to me that it may also just be a little loose. on cars in the past you could adjust the tightness of the rear wheel bearings by tightining the spindle nut.. I have not attempted tearing this appart yet. Anyone been in there?
I will do anything possible to avoid going to the dealer ever again..
SVT special service my a$$...

..my own SVT, I just had the passenger rear wheel bearing fail.
Aftter 135,000 kms, driving home, it failed on me.
First, it came with a shimmy, then followed by a grinding noise, and my ABS light and engine light came on. I stopped the car immediately.
Trying to get it positioned to tow, the grinding was horrendous.
I'm looking to get both rear wheel bearings replaced.
You'd figure that this part would do well as a long-lasting part. I thought bearings don't fail until at least 250,000 kms?
Anyways, does anyone know how much the cost will be? I know the alignment would be about $70.00.

Got a quote for the work.
$235.00 for rear bearings.
Over $300 for the front.
Cost is in CDN, labour included.
