i have the stock 2001 rims with the stock rubbers on them. 17x9 '95 Cobra R or 18x9 '00 Cobra R wheels were recomended to me with 275/40s on all corners. any bigger in the back and understeer is increased? + / - of 17s v. 18s? what tires do you recomend for cornering grip?

I went with the 00 Cobra R wheels (9.5x18) at all corners on my '99 Cobra. Use Bridgestone Potenza PO3 tires. They are super tires and have worn very little to date.
The tires and wheels fit with no rubbing at all, even though I also use the Eibach Sport Springs to lower the car about 1.5 inches.
If you buy the '00 Cobra R rims, do not buy them from the folks in the magazines -- they are poor quality. Make sure you get original Ford parts. The best deal I have seen is from Gene Evans Ford at: www.gefracing.com

do the tires rub in the rear? i've been told by numerous people that unless i just want a straightline car, i shouldn't go bigger than 275s (unless i do more suspension work, which i am) because it will increase undesteer. SVTGirl, where did you get your GKN stage 3 half shafts? i've heard GKN was having issues with ford.

no problems with tires rubbing.
GKN halfshafts were ordered from GKN Drivetech (http://www.gknservice.com/motorsport.htm)
I dealt with Stephen Davis 800-458-4418
hope this helps...

I have been wanting wider wheels for my '01 since I bought it. The problem is I like the look of the stockers. The '03 do not look nearly as good in my opinion.
I have had some bad luck with chrome in the past and want to stick with the polished.
Can the '03 wheels be polished some more to look like the '01's?
If this is possible does anybody know about what it would cost?

That AFS has added wheels that look like the '03 Cobra. They have silver, polished, polished/clear coat and chrome, in sizes up to 10.5 inches.
Has anybody seen these? Is the quality good?

personally i'd rather have the Ford Racing wheels over the AFS wheels, from the pricing i have seen the FR wheels are less (for Chrome 2000 R). but if you don't like chrome (i've heard some problems with chrome wheels leaking air as the years pass) AFS might be your best option if not only option.

yep, you can get them polished, up here they car approx. $200 a wheel to polish ( that's Canadian dollars) I've seen some that have been done, and they look very good, just make sure it's someone that knows what they're doing ;)
