I have a new 2002 sonic blue focus SVT....got it at Magic City Ford in Roanoke, VA. I've had 2 Mustang GT's in my life and wanted another until I got a used 2000 Focus as a 'cheap commuter car.' I fell in love with the way it handled but it wasn't very 'zippy.' Went to my favorite dealer with the intention of getting a 2003 Mustang GT...just for fun, I drove the Focus SVT and decided to buy it, instead. This thing really hugs the road. Love those heated seats! Pretty good deal at less than $20K and with a $2,500 rebate to boot!
What's the deal on the engine block heater? It is briefly mentioned in the SVT supplement to the Focus owner's manual but no recommendations for its use. Good idea on a diesel but why on a 4 banger gasoline engine?
Drive on....

well, it prevents you having to wait for a warm up....otherwise it is not for much use unless you live in canada.

Inteller....how do I get the build #? Sticker on door says my car was built in August.
I plugged in the block heater....was in the 20's here last night. It really does make a difference....heater was blowing warm air in first 1/2 mile of travel.

just call 1800 FORD SVT and give them your VIN. after you have that post your build number and pic in the official thread.

I have recently purchased a red Focus SVT. fun car, great commuter car. I have noticed the same idle issue, and surging issue that others have noticed.
When should I receive my SVTOA packet for the vehicle? Is there a seperate owners manual or a suppliment for the SVT model Focus?
