I just got off the phone with BILTMORE HOUSE.They said we can come Dec 21st for a candlelight tour if we act fast. The day would be Sat Dec. 21,cost is $200. approx.includes room for two, tickets and Sun am breakfast.Tour would be somewhere around 8pm 9pm or about 10pm depending on what is available when we committ. THIS IS NOT A CONFIRMATION. There will be no refunds once we committ(how do you spell commit anyway?)..We need to reserve quickly or we can go next year.(or maybe in the spring, but no decorations)And there is the Blue Ridge Parkway for those who love sharp curves and steep drops. Thanks, Chuck:cool:

Jim, thanks the Biltmore is not holding these rooms yet but they are available as of last night.I told them maybe a 1/2 dozen or so might come. They said ok but I have to guarantee pay't.I'll wait and see if we get a few more responses before we make it official.I invited the Atl chapter , but being so close to the big day it might interfear w some folks.

chuck, if i remember right, there is an entrance to the blue ridge parkway not far from the biltmore house, and on it is a mountain craft display/shop not too far. it is run by the national park service. i think maybe 10 miles on the parkway. there is a lot to do there. maybe this will get a few more people to go. also, who can pass up the chance we might see SNOW! later, jim.

I will make reservations for at least me and you et al.I love snow but Lightnings don't go anywhere in the snow. I had to bounce off curbs to get home last year, not to fun! But hey we can always hibernate .If you don't hear from me over the weekend call me at 803 799 4996 or do the email thing. The wife is real excited. The last time she was excited about SVT's was when she wrecked the lightning!!;)

Dave /Jim I'm wide open.As for research I hear Downtown Asheville is the place to go while we are there. What time are you guys leaving? I think it will take you 1 1/2 hrs to get to Columbia. We need to figure lunch and dinner at least. If you want to eat lunch in Columbia just let me know what you like.I'll meet you there or we can head up the superslab. Cheers Chuck!

How bout a lunch around 1pm on Saturday in Columbia? Jim we could meet up and leave Charleston around 11am. Finish lunch at 2pm and get to Hotel around 5pm? Check in and then check out our dinner options etc? Does the timing on this work? I've never driven to Asheville.

Oh - just a note. Bringing the digital video cam, so we can make this an officially documented SVTOA group outing. Maybe I can put together a vid to post. MAYBE :-) Still not sure how to work the thing.

Dave I think your timing is about right. One o'clock sounds good .We have one of every thing to eat at near I 26.I think dinner Down town A'ville would be in order after we check in. We have Shoneys ,wing joints, Barbeque. Lets tentatively say Gooney Birds they have burgers , salads steaks wings etc. Or we can have Lizards Thicket country cooking in same shopping center.Exit 378 Sunset Blvd. (Lex .Med Center.) Get off there go to light , hang a Right its about 2 blocks on the LEFT.by Food Lion .They have a diverse menue and moderate prices. As far as cameras go Make sure Batterys are hot and bring the charger is all I know.

Chuck,

I'll let you pick the local spot as I don't know anything about either. And, the batteries are charging as we speak!

Jim,

Do you want to meet up to head out of Charleston? Call me on my mobile when you have a moment.... 843.270.0006.

I am very much looking forward to this and Tracy is too! I hope we don't get any snow! I think the idea to go to the craft shop on Sunday sounds good, so I'm in on that if anyone else wants to go.

No Chuck the Beacon isn't open on Sundays. Sorry, although I LOVE the Beacon I do not reccommend it to anyone that has a long ride ahead of them!!! It tends to have a fast travel thru your body if you know what I mean.:D

And sorry, I would love to go the Biltmore, but it is a little to close to Christmas for me........I spent too much on mods this month and Santa is Pissed!!!!!!:tmb:

So I will have to wait til Jan to meet with you guys. I hope you all have fun, I truly enjoy Asheville.

I will call the hotel in Myrtle that you reccommended (sp?) and check on the rates. Thanks for the help. I am still kinda' curious about the expected amount of people to come to the meeting. If it is reflected by the amount of people that respond to the posts then we won't be very crowed......lol...... anyway thanks

I wish everyone going to NC a safe and fun trip. The trip sounds like it will be lots of fun. Unfortunately my family already had obligations for this weekend and we will not be able to attend. Please bring back some photos and video of the trip
