This will happen at the Ok Sheriff's driving range.
Cost to get out on the course is $30. If you thought $30 for a dyno was worth it, then you ain't seen nothing yet. You will get a chance to drive your car in a controlled environment and meet with experienced people that know how to drive!
Start getting the word out to your non-internet connected SVTOAOK buddies.

We have done this school for the last couple of years.
We will be doing driving skills such as
Braking
Auto Cross
Shuffle Steering
Hitting Apex on a turn
As well as some runs arround the road course.
We will have instructors for all who want or need them.
This facility is a great place to learn how to handle your car on the street in emergency situations as well as get some help with high speed track running for a very low price.
More detals will be posted shortly along with an enrollment form.

I want to be there bad......
Really bad.....
I just have to decide what events I want to go to the most, as there are tons of things going on in May and early June.

This sounds great. We've been tryin to set up something like this at the local Sheriff's driving range in Fl as well but things take time.

This is our third year to do it.
We have a connection in that a friend is an instructor at the school. He makes the contact for us and then we go from there.
Try to find someone who is connected in some way and get them to open the door. Also make sure they know you have insurance from SVTOA and that it is the Only Ford Sponsored club. That will help get doors open also.

I talked to my boss today and he is letting me have off Saturday, April 17th for the Tahlequah cruise, Saturday May 15th for the Driving school AND Saturday May 29th for a Focaljet get-together in Columbia, MO!
What a hell-of-a-guy! It is normally hard to get more than one Saturday off every 2 months and he is letting me take off 3 in about 6 weeks!
So I'll see you guys at the cruise AND the driving school!

You can view a map of it HERE (http://maps.msn.com/(44j3z055uzzceo55raemk120)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=35.51640%2c-97.40643&A=7.16667&P=|35.51640%2c-97.40643|1|4001+N+Air+Depot+Blvd%2c+Oklahoma+City%2c+OK+73141|L1|)
basically it is east of I35 and north of Midwest City.
There is a LOT of interest drumming up for this. Mainly due to the fact that only SVTOA can get on the track because of our insurance.

Sheesh how embarassing.
Thanks. When I filled out the C.L.T. survey form I asked that everone's web handles be printed on the name tags and use a larger font.
I'm also gonna request the possibility to have breakout groups for each individual type of vehicle at the next one, just so folks get to know one another better regarding relating to thier rides.

yeah I agree. I'm going to start with putting my name in my sig though so people can tie the two together.

Regarding putting your name in your Signature - It appears that the Signature option isn't being "Seen" by the system anymore.

That looks like fun, now for the questions...
1. Do I have to drive my SVT vehicle? If the weather is even remotely questionable I don't drive the Lightning, but I have another truck and a Camaro SS I can drive.
2. What kind of helmet is required? I thought I had one that would be acceptable for everything I would want to do, but I don't because it was erroneously given an M2000 sticker at the factory instead of an SA 2000.
3. Are passengers allowed on the course? My entourage would like to go for a ride.
4. What time will this thing start and end. Will there be a caravan of SVT vehicles?
I'll post this on the Lightning forum.

1. A ford powered vehicle is required. We *may* let non-ford powered vehicles on the track, but that is only if SVTOA member driven, Ford powered vehicles outnumber the non. This is a liability ins stipulation outlined by SVTOA. This is also why we as SVTOA get on the track and everyone else and their dog are trying to piggyback (not that we mind) but SVTOA members come first.
2. SA rated helmet. sorry no exceptions. again, SVTOA ins stipulation. if your helmet is incorrectly labeled, you would need to take it up with them about getting that fixed/replaced/etc.
EDIT: there will be some events that are low speed and won't require a helmet, you will be notified at the school of which ones those will be.
3. not that I'm aware of. you will be with instructors. this is ultimately up to the instructors though
EDIT: I heard that they might let everyone out on the course to kinda just go around it and see what it is like. I'm not sure if that still stands. That may be your chance for guests.
4. We need to meet there by 8 and start by 9. Better make a strong pot of coffee!

ok, I'm bumping this up because it is the "next big thing". One thing I want to say is, even if you are not participating in the school, I think you would have a lot of fun to just bring a sack lunch and some lawn chairs to come out and watch. Another suggestion is, if for some reason you don't want to run, try to find someone else to take your slot. Of course, ideally you'll want to participate because it will be a lot of fun and learning at the same time. Forms are on the SVTOAOK website.

I won't be able to make it. :(
Blame it on me being a nice guy. My assistant manager has a regional tournament (some collectable card game like Magic) that weekend that he didn't think he was going to be able to attend since it is a 10 hour drive to get there. I got the okay for the Saturday off from my boss since my ASM wasn't going to go to his tournament.
Well, now he has someone that is going to pay his way to the tournament. Since it is a once a year thing for the tournament, I told him that he could go to it.
I have other events that I can go to, he can only hit this once a year. He's been doing a good job in the store, so I thought he deserved it.
Sorry guys, sometimes it is hard for me to be an *******.

well i just got word that my 10 HS reunion is on that date, but I'll be damned if I pre-empt SVTOAOK for some slackers who just told me "oh btw our class reunion is less than a month from now"
plus I dont feel like driving 6 hours to see a bunch of losers.

Ok, Saturday morning the Tulsa caravan will leave from Ford of Tulsa South at 7:00 AM SHARP! We can't afford to wait any longer than that so please be there at that time. If you aren't just get on the turnpike and start driving. That will get us down there at 8:30 or so. If the South location is out of the way for you, hop on 44 and wait at the first turnpike gas station and watch for us to blow by. My mobile is 808-6012. Ring it if you want to know where we are.
