1996 Cobras came stock with 3.27 gears. You can find them on ebay and maybe even in the For Sale forums here. Most owners are changing to 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30 gears depending on use. :cbra:

Why are you going back to stock?
I can understand how you feel a 4.30 is a little steep for alot of highway driving, but a 3.27 for these cars is just no fun:huh:

Well the car has a vortech and 4:30s, I just want to go close to stock. I dont need all that speed *cough* problems. 3:73 would be one step down from stock ? I might go with that, just trying to get an estimate, because 4:30 is crazy... or so I hear.

ahh, I see. Actually 3.55 would be one step away from stock, but a 3.73 on a blown car would be a wise choice:tmb:

You are going to have "speed *cough* problems" regardless of your rear gear choice if you don't control your right foot.;)

LOL ... I meant more or less the problems w/ upgrades. IT seems your always tinkering or replacing or whatever something. I just need a nice sporty daily driver. ....
Anyone wanna buy a Vortech ?

Well now, I got your attention, didn't I?
Thing is, you are probably correct about not driving your built-for-speed '96 daily. Whoever put the 4.30's and the Vortech in the car certainly never planned it to be their daily driver. With the 4.30's the price of gas in enough to deter one. Changing the rear back to something less racey is probably the easiest thing to do. Ripping out the Vortech will leave you short on parts and with a big hole in the oil pan. But even these things can be overcome by spending more money. Go to it, it's your car. Point is, there are any number of unmodified '96's out there that you can hit the road with without having to do any unmodifying and avoid the "tinkering or replacing or whatever something".

I know what you mean. ...
The 4:30s are on the way out, for 3:73s I am thinking as of now. I am buying a rebuilt short block from Ford and having a well known engine builder go through my heads. So the only part I can see as of right now I am going to need is stock injectors, an airbreather or box of some sort, and possibly a pulley bracket, havent checked on that one yet.

nice 3.73 with a built motor and vortech will be a nice dpendable setup. be sure to buy a chip and have a custom burn done using a dyno. that'll optimize the whole setup.
