I went and took a look at a new svtf four door today. A first glance I wasn't really digging the four doors but after i looked at it for a while it really grew on me, and actually looked to be the same length as the 3 door. The price tag was 20,900. It didnt have the winter package or HIDS but had the sunroof and audiophile. I know alot of you have gotten your cars for much cheaper. Any advice for a first time new car buyer on how to talk the salesman into giving me a better deal? I also know that Ford has a pretty kick ass incentive package right now, and im also a recent college grad, so that will help.

Oh and one more thing, what extras/benefits do SVT owners recieve? I thought I read soemthing like when and if (hopefully not) the car gows in to have work done, the dealership has to clean your car. Thats shaweeet! Thanks for the help guys.

yea you get a free rental on warr. work and they wash your car.

and yes the 5dr and 3dr are both the same wheel base, and so is the 4dr. as far as talking them down some more all you can do is ask. good luck and I hope you buy it YOU will be happy!!!

Depending on the availablility to go other places...

Here in Alaska... for the SVT vehicles you pay sticker no matter what... The dealer will not give any on the price... I paid sticker of $20,000 for mine...

I've heard people get them as low as $14,000 after the rebates... I think they are at $3000 right now... So that bring it down to $17000 already.

Get the car but definetly shop around...Good Luck. The price will depend pretty much on whether you are looking at a 03 or a 04 car. If you are willing to wait until the new style 05 Focus then I thinl you should get the car really cheap...but thats my guess I might be wrong.

Well I just went and took a look at it again, and it is indeed a 2003. And I talked to another friend and he told me that its been there for quite a long time so i can use both of these in figuring a price.... ill have to put on my poker face and try and figure out how and what im gonna say to the dealer. I hate that im a car buying newbie.

If I may be so bold.
I got the Ford A Plan discount when I bought mine in December. I also got the $3000 rebate on top of that. A Plan is about $17G's depending on options, and that is at, or close to, dealer cost. Yes, I got a GREAT deal on my SVTF. If your dealership wants that car off the lot, they will give it to you for 15 after $3000 rebate (they gotta make a little money).

this is a 3 door but the reserve is $14,999... WOW I still owe more than that on my 02'!
appears to have every option for the 03' year, moon roof, audiophile, winter package, HID's.

Just thought I'd throw this at ya...
I have a 3 door model and it's not a problem getting 2 kids in the back seat, both are in car seats...

My SVT is much easier to get in the back seat than the ZX3 we own... Don't know why but the SVT seats move more or something... If you haven't tried the 3 door, it might be worth looking at.

Oh trust me, a 3 door was definitely my first choice, but I like silver and four doors isnt all that bad. I figure for as long as it has sat on the lot theyd be dying to get rid of it. Im gonna go in on monday and see what i can do. Being that it is an 03 and with all the incentives, do you think if I told him id take it for 16 out the door that would be too low of a price? Maybe 17?

i would think on an 03 you could get it off his lot for $15k. he has been eating interest on that thing for a while.

15 out the door? That would be great! I guess ill give it a try and keep my fingers crossed. If he says no should I make up some bs story about how another dealer has an 03 leftover that hes willing to let go for 15 and im on my way to check it out, then just walk off (leaving my name and number of course)

thats exactly what you do. it isn't like you get fined for having your offer rejected. But don't stick around to listen to their whining about having little markup and all the other BS. They make money on it if they sell it for $1 over cost.

after I made a sweet deal on my current car, I had the losers calling me back weeks afterwards offering me what I told them before and I basically said "you snooze you lose"
