I have 2001 Lighting and I and love the truck.
I have a problem with it blowing blue smoke(oil)
when I start it or step into hard. Also it goes through 1/2 to 1 quart to 500 miles. The dealer is telling me this is normal. This sound just plain wrong to me. Does anyone have any thoughts:wtf: :wtf:

Pull your air intake from the air box to your throttle body and see if you don't have oil at the throttle body. This is caused by high crankcase pressure when you let off of it after stepping on it. I had the same problem and replaced the oil filler cap with an oil breather cap. This stopped my problem. I don't however remember it blowing blue smoke. This will however solve the oil loss problem. SVT says the truck should use about 1 quart per 3000 miles. I don't buy that. They also say the problem with the oil at the throttle body is caused by overfilling when you change the oil...

1 quart per 500 miles is not normal, your dealer is mistaken.
My '02 burns no oil and I drive it quite hard.

Thanks for the input.
I check the throttle body intake and yes you are correct. There is puddle of oil there. We'll have to see what the dealer has to say about that.
THANKS again. :allhail:
