I'm sure most everyone in the Delaware Valley treks to the "Jersey Shore" several times during the summer. I was wondering which shore is your destination? I like Wildwood, myself. I'm amazed at how it has been transforming the last few years. The Mustang Show is the last weekend of April. We'll go and walk the boards, my son will ride a few amusements and we'll grab something to eat along the boards. :D

My favorite place is Mystic Island because it's quiet and the houses have a street in the front and a canal in the back so you can tie your boat up there!

But as for towns on the barrier islands, I'm gonna have to say Ocean City. Mainly because the last time I went to Wildwood, it skeeved me out. Atlantic City is cool but not for the beaches and boardwalk but the casinos. OC has a much more interesting board walk, the beaches are cleaner and have more space than AC and OC isn't as crowded as Wildwood.

You'll find me floating in the surf off of Cape May every weekend in the summer.

No question for me at all:

Beach Island State Park, off season. No buildings, no people, the longest stretch of natural beach in the state. I always try to go there the weekend after Labor Day when the water's still warm. Only problem is having to drive through Tom's River, but now I know they're some special street racers there, so maybe that can be fun, too.

Ah Tom's River isn't so bad. Problem with Tom's River is that it is basically environmentally protected land so the property values are low and you are severly limited on what you can do to your property in the way of lookin' good. I mean, there are some really low-brow people around Tom's River but for the most part, they are people just like you who liketo be away from everyone else.

I know the beach you are talking about though. Limited access. If you don't get there before it fills up, you don't get on for the day. Real nice, real clean and nothing in the way of the usual boardwalk BS like you get in the other towns. Then again the boardwalk is part of teh Jersey Shore experience!

A coupld other places like that are barnegat, Sandy Hook, Stone Harbor and Avalon. They are all little towns with public beaches but because there are very few hotels and no real boardwalks, the crowds aren't as bad.

Wildwood is nice before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. My wife's family had a place on the inland side. :D

We'll need to have a few beers then when you get down there next time.
