I'd first like to introduce myself as a new Cobra owner (03' anniversary vert.) and a relitively new member here. I love this car and I do not... by far concider myself an expert on automobiles but I do feel I am a better than average driver.
I am looking for your thoughts on to how to keep all this power at the rear wheels on the road. I have a K&N CAI and a magnaflow exhaust as some simple Mods which by the way are noticeable.
When I hit it (i'm sure we are all having the same problem the wheels hop.
Are other powerfull automobiles doing this?
What can we do to still hit it and keep the rubber on the road?
yes, I can play with the clutch but who wants to do that:bash:
Like I said I love it...Just looking to love it even more.
Any thoughts on a better suspension kits and lowereing the car 1 1/2" by the way???

I went to Steeda for my wheel hop issue. I'm sure others in this forum can recommend other places for you.

They have I think a 4 step kit to get your wheel hop issue resolved.
The first step will be to get a set of good subframe connectors.
Secondly to get a set of urethane IRS bushings.
Third you need to get a higher spring rate rear spring.
Fourth is a set of anti hop shocks.
I will let it up to you to research what produces are best in these areas. Supposedly this setup will leave you roughly 98-99% wheel hop free.
If you want a totally wheel hop free life put a solid axle under it ;)

Edit: I just say that you have a vert, the progression of mods might be different for a vert. I know you have to do the same things. But I think springs are the big thing with your car.

Kenny Brown forward torque brace, and new bushings did nothing for me. 70 degrees and sunny is what it takes as well as proper operating temperatures for the tires. You know these tires will run up to 41LBS all day, I keep mine at 35, and I race with 25 in the rears and 44 in the fronts.....it's worth it trust me, 1.9 60' times are easy this way. I use Firestone Firehawks, they bite, they also bite all the way down to about 3mm of tread whereas the goodyears are toast at about 8mm, go figure. Considering they only come with 11 the Firestones treat me better.

Thanks Dennish. All good info. I'll try the air pressure for sure.

Don't forget about the IRS bolts! The stockers are 12mm even though the hole is 14mm. This introduces play into the IRS setup. Switch to the 14mm buttonhead bolts, to fix this and also accomodate a fatter rear tire if you choose to do so ater on. If you leave the stock bolts in you will have rubbing issues with a 315 tire on 10.5" rims with full suspension travel.

This is what I have done and I don't have the issue unless it is a little chilly out.

Thanks. Now that the weather is warmer around here I find the problem is 90% better. Need the soft rubber to keep it sticking I guess.
Thanks everybody!
