SVTOA Dyno Day has been set for March 20th. Mark your calendars. It will be held at Tulsa Dyno. Here is the pricing:
$30 for 1 pull no a/f
$40 for 3 pulls (a/f wideband read for free on the last 2 pulls).
every additional pull after that is $5. There is plenty of parking in case you need to spread out and take stuff on and off between pulls.
Folks these are the best dyno rates I've ever seen so I would really like to see a big SVTOA turnout for this.
I would like a show of hands here on who can make it. If we can confirm a large group, they can provide catered BBQ at very reasonable rates as well.
If the group gets really large, we can probably carryover into Sunday, especially if that fits some people's schedules better, and the rates would be the same for both days.
Also if you have buddies with other non SVT (but preferably Ford)vehicles bring them along too, just let them know that SVTOAOK members get preference.
So who all is coming?

****.....that's a Saturday. Unsure right now as it is too far away. I would like to get it off work and show up though. If I get it off work, I still need to come up with the $50 or so for the pulls.

The last couple of times were alot of fun. Good chance to socialize & hear the thundering engines. I you get the chance it is well worth it. I am still going to attend even though I sold my car.

you sold all of your cars? I thought you had like 2 Cobras or something. Anyhow if we get just too many people for Sat we will carry over into Sunday if we have to. At this point without a lot of firm confirms I just can't say.

I wish I had two Cobra's. You must have me mixed up w/ someone else. My father has a '96 Cobra that we have done some stuff to. I had just a '90 lx. and a lot of dreams.
Inteller, I presume you have an SVT Focus by your avitar?

by the way, what time are we meeting at the dyno?
is there going to be a club meeting or group lunch afterwards?

we will show up over there around 10 or so. Thats when they open up. First come first serve. Afterwards we are going to cruise over to the TAIS. Lunch plans are undecided but if we get enough people we will try to get BBQ catered at the dyno. We need about 30 confirmed ppl though.

no, I'm referring to the Tulsa Automotive International Show....or Tulsa International Auto Show, or whatever they call it these days.

That would be pretty cool also. That show is the manufacturers show, right? Just showing all the actual production cars.

productions and concepts. Ford's showing was very poor last year. I expect better things this year.

if you can let any of your fellow Lightning buddies know about it we'd love to have them out there too.
And come join us for lunch at our Feb meet if you get the chance. Okie Dokies at 1pm on the 21st.

I might be able to make it with my Cobra. Waiting on the rod bearings to come in so we can button up the bottom end to the new engine.

I was just rereading the post and noticed this sentence. There is a lot of parking, but if you are going to change parts between pulls the vehicle must stay on the dyno. If you take it off the dyno, change something, then strap it back down the pricing starts over at $30 for the first pull+$5 for each additional. Most of the work involved is getting the car strapped down, so if it gets strapped down twice it costs more. See you guys in two weeks.
BTW, I posted this on the Lightning forum tonight, maybe some others will show up and I won't be the only one......again.

it seems we are having a large number of commitments to this event and thats GREAT! I just want to encourage everyone to keep their day open as there might be a LONG list of people on the dyno. I for one will defer if someone needs to get on the dyno cause it is the only time they can do it. If there are a large number of you that can't make it Sat, I'll see if Chris can work in some Sunday spillover. Thanks to the great response we've got so far!

There have been 5 or 6 Lightning owners express interest in this event. When we had our dyno day in November we had about 8 or 10 confirm and about 20 show up. Our croud is a little spontaneous, so there could be a few or a bunch. :wtf:

5 to 6? Thats great! I'm trying to devise a way to fit everyone into a schedule that works best for everyone. Would you all rather run in groups (Cobras, L's, etc) or simply first come first serve. I know some people would like to get done early and go to the car show while others may want to wait until the afternoon.

I talked to some Mustang owners at the OKC Autocross today. I got one who lives in Muskogee to confirm that he will make the dyno day. He just bought a used Cobra and is wanting to know what its numbers are.

Chris of Tulsa Dyno wanted me to post these following tips:
-Make sure tires are aired up to a min. of 30psi in rear
-Make sure you check your oil before starting your car that morning.
-Anyone wanting to swap parts/make adj will need to be last so that those
wanting to just baseline can get in and out quickly (and keeps others from
having to stand around for long times while parts are being swapped).
-Also please make sure everyone tries to bring cash. I have a CC machine,
but it will add time to each persons dyno if we have to do it on very many
people. No checks are accepted on the Dyno day, unless they have Dyno'ed
here before. The whole point of this is to keep it running smoothly so
that everyone who shows will see a smooth flow of cars running on the
dyno. I will have a sign-up list for everyone to sign up on. If they sign
up, and don't get to dyno, they will get that rate anytime in the next
month as long as they put their name on the list. Also, if you have any
signs or banners you are welcome to show early and attatch them to the
fence along the side of the building where we will be dyno'ing.
Finally, if you are just wanting a baseline SHOW UP AT 9AM!

I wonder if swapping out my K&N air filter for a stock filter would be considered "swapping parts". It takes less than 3 minutes to change filters and I would like to see what kind of difference the drop in K&N makes.
I really don't want to be at the back of the line for just a filter change.....

probably not, if it truely takes 3 minutes. I think he was referring to people who have like CAIs and the like they want to swap out.

If it just takes 3 minutes it won't be an issue. You will probably cool down longer than that between runs anyway.
An observation of mine about EFI cars and dynos has been that you don't get very reliable numbers when you swap parts on the dyno. It takes time for the fuel trims and advance curves to learn what to do with the new parts, so the numbers aren't always honest. When I did the headers on my truck the initial dyno pull showed a gain of 6 hp, but I only had about 20-30 miles on it since the install. A few hundred miles later I had a gain of nearly 30 hp. As usual, your results might vary, but don't expect anything huge to happen on the dyno.

I'm glad everyone had a great time. Let's be talking amongst ourselves on when we thing a good time would be to dyno again. I think a lot of people got good base numbers the other day so let the mods begin!
I have the pics and I'll be working on getting the video clips done ASAP.

Thanks for the work guys. I had a blast and met some new people. I'm up for another dyno day, I'm almost finished with the upper intake and the 460 rocker conversion for my daily driver and I'll need to check out the gains (if any) from those.
