Sounds very cool!, I think I may come with a couple other 03 owners from Colorado! I missed the Rocky Mountain Mustang Rounduop registration for their autocross this year, so I guess tghe weekend will consist of cruising and showing!

I checked if there was room available at the La Quinta online and it said the hotel is booked. Is SVTOA reserving rooms? I will be coming in from the east coast and need a place to stay.

SVTOA has several dozen rooms blocked. When you call tell them you're with SVTOA. Hope this helps...Let me know if you have any problems or any other questions.
I'll be out of town until late sunday nite. I'm not sure if I'll have internet access in the meantime, but I'll check back here no later than monday.

PPIR is a great track. You won't regret it. We also have garages available for rent. That's a real neat place to park your ride (or your lawn chairs) <g>...

Hi John. You can register two ways.
1) Call the toll-free # (866.377.8862)
2) Use the forms online right here (SVTOA);
http://www.svtoa.com/events/index.asp?sessionguid= (scroll down to 'Thunder in the Rockies'.)
Info about cost can be found a couple of messages up from here.
Will I be there? OH YES! This event is part of my duties as Regional Director...but even if they weren't, I enjoy them so much I'd be there anyway. <g>.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask away with any questions or comments...and if you get a chance, talk the event up on local sites. This is a new event, and it takes awhile to get the word out.

Hi John. Sorry for my late reply, I've been out of town and I'm still catching up on things...
You're about to have the time of your life! Tech your car before you leave for the event (see the tech form here on the website). After Jonathan Blevins and his crew double-check your vehicle, you'll be ready for the fun stuff! You'll receive expert instruction from SVTOA's lead instructor, Jeff Lacina. He'll go over the basics in his groundschool which everyone attends on Saturday morning. Then, you'll break into rungroups where you'll rotate thru an exercise in threshold braking. Next is some autocross exercises, and finally, with an instructor in your passenger seat, you'll hit the roadcourse.
Slowly at first, until you build up expertise and confidence, then a bit faster when you and your instructor agree you're upto it. 100% of the emphasis is on safety. The thrills you'll experience will match no other you've ever experienced. I still enjoy dragracing and autocrossing, but the track is my favorite.
Saturday evening is the group dinner, where everyone has fun recounting their stories about the day, and then Sunday its more of the same.
Go over to the SVTOA garage (general discussion forum) here and ask for comments from those who've attended one. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed.
Hope this helps...

Hi! I think I answered this in your other email, but it will depend upon if I can get the extra days off from work. Won't know yet.
How are you coming on the mods?

I'm in the process of doing some brake/suspension upgrades and then once I'm confident that she is built properly for a Kenn bell, I will have one installed. The point I'm at now seems that the brakes stop great, but Hawk's pads and a nice set of lowering springs with new CC plates could only improve her performance output. The car is extremely fast, I drive her once every couple weeks and tend to forget to respect the right pedal and end up with a white knuckle ride sometimes! LOL! I just rolled over 8,000 miles last week so I think she's a perfect canidate for a twin screw.

Those things are potent right off the showroom. I can only imagine what those mods will do for it <g>.
I've seen several 03's with a KB, longtubes, air filter intake tube, and a chip to control it hitting over 600 HP at the wheels.
That's pretty awesome! May want to bring extra brake pads <g>.

I hear you!, you're welcome to give her a run through the course if the oppertunity arises. I will register for the event tomorrow, I had to wait and see if my father was going to do the course with me as the second driver and he just told me he is. He's flying from Boston just to do the course, he has no idea how powerful the 03 Cobras are, it should be funny to watch!

Just got the order out for my 10.5 inch wheels and a set of goodyear Eagle F1 Gs-d3's in a 315, I can't wait to try them out, the extra traction will definately be a plus! The tread pattern is kind of funky looking so I bet they will look cool from the Chevy's view!

Those wheels should help grip. I very much appreciate the offer, we'll have to see how things are going as the event unfolds. I'll be your dad will be absolutely amazed at the HP and especially the torque the Cobra produces!

He had a 1970 1/2 camaro that was very limited and doesn't relize how cars have changed performance wise. The issue I'm having right now is how low I can go with the springs to avoid rubbing the inner fender lip. I am trying to keep the car as clean as possible so I don't want to touch any part of it with a hammer! I think I may have to add 1/2 inch spacers to avoid contact on the inner side walls and as long as she sits a bit higher, I think they will work well.

67-72 were my favorite bodystyles. Those were nice cars, even if they were a cheb. <g> It won't take long for him to realize the eaton will give big-block performance in a smallblock package...390+ HP out of 281 CID is a pretty good ratio.
Are you talking about wheel spacers or spring spacers?

Wheel spacers, I had to order Nitto Dr's because the other ones were way out on back order. I'm considering coil overs and just ordered the IRS bushings and 14mm IRS bolts from Maximum Motorsports, that should help with some of the wheel hop.

Have you purchased your caster/camber plates yet? MM makes some pretty awesome ones. No matter which ones you go with, try to get the 4-bolt ones (stronger).

I haven't ordered them yet, but I'm going with their coil over conversion kit for the front and rear to adjustably lower the car down to get the perfect ride height with the 315's! have a great weekend!
