Well Im bored sitting around and I got to thinking about my car and the single ****ty run I had at the track last year. It's a 97 Cobra stock except a set of 4.10 gears.

Here is my slip.

60' - 2.250
1/8 - 9.492
MPH - 78.06
1/4 - 14.470
MPH - 99.19

which is ****, I only got one run the track was that busy... Does anyone else have a stock slip sitting around that I can compare to?

Don't feel to bad, I never got out of the 14's while my car was stock either. I don't have any of my old timeslips anymore, so I don't know all of the particulars.

My best E/T is 14.21 @ 98.25MPH. My 60' always sucks - 2.2+. Don't have any slips handy to provide the other details.

Car was bone-stock at the time. (The only thing changed since is I put in a Pro 5.0 shifter. No help...need more traction.)

I hear ya. With just an 87mm Pro M, a BBK CAI, and 3.73's my 98 went 14.1 at 103...

That was with a 2.4 60'.

How sad am I?

I had a 98 Cobra - White, no spoiler. - Totally stock except for K&N. My best was a 13.91@102. Traction was the biggest problem, especially at the 1-2 shift point. Most times the car just wanted to go sideways, but once I made a couple of runs and picked up enough VHT on the tires then it went straight enough so that I didn't have to lift.

I don't know if my Cobra was better than average, as it's the only 98 that I ever drove, but I do know that the car is a real handful at the dragstrip so you better know how to drive if you're going to run in the 13's with it. I recall that my 60ft times were never that good with the car, even on the 13.91 run. I seen to recall a 2.1 or something in the vicinity.

I know that I have the timeslip around here somewhere, so when I find it I'll get it scanned and uploaded.

I looked around a bit and came up with the timeslip - no scanner here at home so you'll just have to take my word for it until I get the time to scan it

Here's the numbers:

60' 2.210
330' 5.977
1/8 9.04 @ 79.55
1000 no time
1/4 13.914 @ 101.40

This run was at 2:47pm on Oct 25, 1998 @ Woodburn Dragstrip, Woodburn, OR

Here's times from another run earlier in the day (1:46pm):

60' 2.210
330' 5.999
1/8 9.063 @ 80.22
1000' 11.71
1/4 14.01 @ 89.95 (see below)

This last run was during eliminations - I'd been having really bad traction problems and had dialed a 14.1. I hooked up pretty good on this run and was way out in front so I backed off and hit the brakes, hence the low mph. (I still broke out and lost).

I bought a house shortly after that and spent the next summer putting in the yard, building a fence, etc., and didn't race any more with the 98.

Now I'm looking to buy a new Cobra or Lighning and go racing again.

Found my timeslips...

Best run:
R/T: .990 (yech!)
60': 2.222
330': 6.050
1/8: 9.205
MPH: 77.42
1000': 11.932
1/4: 14.210
MPH: 99.28

Mason-Dixon Dragway, 11/9/2002 under clear skies @ about 60 degrees.

Best run at 75-80 Dragway:
R/T: 0.5963 (much better!)
60': 2.2923
330': 6.1243
1/8: 9.3293
1/4: 14.4493
MPH: 93.1382

75-80 Dragway, Monrovia, MD 5/3/2003 under clear skies @ about 70 degrees

The car hooks up much better at Mason-Dixon. I had a heck of a time getting bite at 75-80. Spun 'em at launch and broke traction hitting 2nd.

I'm getting a Stage II suspension installed by Brooks Performance (http://www.brooksperformance.com) soon...in time for the Free State SVTOA Drag Day in June at 75-80. We'll see what a stiffer frame does for my times.

I had a 96 cobra w/ about 50,000mi. It had 4.10, bbk h-pipe and a flowmaster cat-back (it even had a stock shifter!). I got it to go 13.50 @ 104. The car also was dynotuned via a chip & made 270rwhp. The key to driving modular cobras is to keep the rpm's @ 2500 or above when leaving the line. The key to accomplishing this is feathering the gas & riding the clutch (&lots of practice!). If you it correctly, you will barely hear your tires chirping thru 1st gear :tmb: . Incorrectly & you'll melt rubber :fryem: or let the car fall on its face :hbomb: . Best of luck!!!

Wow! my mph kills everyone elses. My 60' sucks cause my limited slip differential is shot and the driver's side wheel would not spin on a sticky track. So with just one wheel in motion here is the best I did last year.

1/4 mile = 13.99
60' = 2.34
MPH = 103.84

I am expecting mid 13's once my new T2-Torsen differential gets here and installed! My mods are very minimal with only Densecharger CAI, Magnaflow catback, & Steeda rear lower control arms and subframes.
