Howdy....long time reader, first time poster.

I am installing a new Basani Off-Road X-Pipe and Cat-Back this weekend. I thought while I have the car in the air, why not change out the Tranny and Diff Fluid?

I want to use Mobil-1 ATF fluid which I believe is no issue. Please tell me if I am wrong.

I am not sure on the Diff Fluid. The owners manual says do not change it unless you have a leak or have submerged the diff in water (no issues for me on either item). Any thoughts on this? If I do change it, what do you all recommend for fluid? I am partial to Mobil-1.

The only mod I have is a K&N until Saturday. I just rolled over 10K miles. Ford installed a new driveshaft and diff at 3K miles thanks to the VIBE.

I would appreciate any help.

Whatever you use make sure it meets OEM standards. If not, do not use. Each product will state what standards it meets on the label. OR- check out their websites, such as : www.amsoil.com
or others also.

This may not mean much in this instance, but I put synthetic ATF in a 1993 5 speed Ranger Splash I had and it ruined the tranny. I really think it ruined the synchronizers but even a rebuild didn't make it completely right. The stuff was too slick for the friction based synchros to bring the gears up to speed before shifting.

I sold the truck because of that fluid.

Thanks everybody. I decided not to refill until I contact a few of the lubricant manufacturers. BTW, the bassani setup went on yesterday. I am REALLY happy. It would most likely be too loud for most but I like it. More importantly, I like the extra giddy up when hitting the pedal.
