Very cool, I like it but it does not give off the authentic American muscle car feel, it looks more like a Honda S2000 on steroids!:cbra:

Yeah, I kind of got an S2000-Audi TT hybrid sensation from it. I agree with your other post; I would drive it for evaluation purposes. Heck, I got more of a blast from watching them beat the daylights out of the Boss 351 mule.

They had a show on TLC the other night that was called "Rides", and it featured the devolopment of that car. 60 minutes long. Good show.

On the surfacing of this God awful Cobra misfire, perhaps it says something about design groups.
If I understand this correctly, the guys who did the Ford GT (nice!) turn around & drop this turd.
Meanwhile, the guy who does the Pontiac Aztek turns around & does the C6 'vette (nice!).
What this says is the guy who headed the new 'stang effort (nice!) should be given a long vacation (hey, call it a reward) & don't let him touch the next Ford.
Instead, Ford should hire the Chris Bangle dude who just did the Dame Edna headlight thing for BWW.
Kind of like flying on the last airline that crashed because they'll now care & therefore be the safest bet...

I saw the same show and it changed my mind about the whole car, the performance that Carroll Shelby demonstrated made me want to oder one for 06, it will be his last Shelby model at 81 years old, hope I'm driving like that at that age! Hey Harry, is that a 00 R rear spoiler?

According to the latest issue of Motor Trend, Shelby was not involved at all with any of the design of the car. Now, that's not to say it won't kick heiny, but this one is a Ford Cobra, not a Shelby Cobra. I'm not surprised, though, that Ford want's to associate him with the vehicle.
The Cobra shares much with the Ford GT, and Motor Trend is betting that it will actually make production because of the lower cost of manufacture that that will mean. They also say that the car is finished to the point that it's more of a pre-production than a true concept. I hope they do build it. The pictures I've seen don't blow me away like the original does, but I think I'll reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh (assuming that Ford does go ahead with it.
If they do, it will be interesting to see what happens with SVT and the Mustang Cobra. My bet is that SVT will lose the Cobra name to the new car, but will produce modern versions of the GT350 and GT500. They've already got engines to use.....the 4.6 blown modular for the 350, and the 5.4 out of the GT for the 500. Now that would be just too sweet!

I not sure where MT got their information but Carroll Shelby was indeed involved in this project. In fact he stated in an interview that at teh beginning of the project he was not directly involved due to contract negotiations not being finalized when the project started. However he went onto state that once the contract stuff was behind him that he jumped directly into the design and had a heck of a good time being able to use the advances made in technology to overcome some of the design problems that bedeviled him during his original Shelby Cobra creation.
The name "Shelby Cobra" at this time is still in court over ownership dispute with Ford and him against some defunct company in either Mississippi or Missouri that had bought the name rights several years ago. That is why the name "Shelby Cobra" is not being used at any time right now
So I am not sure where MT is coming from on these events....

It is my understanding that Ford has already killed this car. First to go was the V-10. Someone decided it would be better to go w/ a V-8 based on the Ford GT. Then because of press criticism of the looks, Ford had a new coupe design more along the lines of the Cobra Daytona coupe. Again w/ a V-8. This may be the successor to the GT.
