does anyone have any info on tailpipes for a 2000 R.
I'd like to replace them. I've contacted Borla Performance
but haven't had any luck with them. I'd appreciate any information I could get.

I replaced my whole exahust system and it was the best thing I ever did. The stock exhaust IMHO did not do the car justice. It sounded like a Taurus to me. :bash:
I replaced the "H" pipe with a 2-1/2" Bassani with hi-flo cats and put a Spin-Tech cat back on. Although everyone I know put a Bassani cat-back on. I just felt a need to be different.
Now, the car sounds like it should have when it came from the factory. It sounds as mean as it performs now!:allhail:

does the system look as good as the original? does everything mount to stock hangers?

No, it does not look like the original. I think it looks better. I have oval tail pipes now for better ground clearance in case I ever lower the car a little it won't be a problem. The oval tailpipes are about 1-1/4" x 5" or so. I also had to fab my own muffler coupler to join the mufflers together along with hangars for the mufflers and tailpipes.

After months of trying I finally convinced Borla to make me tailpipes. They are 185.70 for the pair with a 3 week delivery.
If anyone is interested I can give you the contact information.

I don't have a cobra R but i have a 95 cobra with the borla side exhaust ( it was on the car when i bought it), i wanted to ditch the borla cuz i think the design isnt very good (plus it hangs about 3 inches above the pavement which makes for fun times leaving parking lots!), i wanted to just have some bassani real streets about 6 inches behind the BBK O/R H then have pipes bent to exit thru the side exhaust skirts. My question is where did u get those oval tips? those would fit perfectly thru the oval openings. Finding the right tip was my only problem in making the system. any help is appreciated
Thanks
Dan

Sorry it took so long to reply. :( I thought I'd get an email saying this thread has been replied to? I'll have to check it out!
Spin-Tech has the Stainless steel oval tip which clamp right onto your round tail pipe.
I'm thinking about eliminating the mufflers and going with some straight oval piping from my Bassani "H" pipe. (I'm on a weight reduction kick right now!) I hope it's not too loud? My saving grace is the fact that I have a catted "H" pipe. So I'm hoping I'll be ok on sound level?
Happy Motoring!!!

I was doing some work on my exhaust to get it a little higher off the ground recently and only had the off road H with headers....DAMN LOUD, like illegal, break windows loud...so u are very lucky you have a catted mid pipe. U should be able to get away with the sound. Thanks for the info on the tips. Talk to u later
