Snakeye, what kind of plugs did you get? JDM suggested Denso's to me gapped at .045.

I'm not into all of that latest and greatest stuff, like iridium. I went with Autolite double platinums @ about $6 each vs. the iridiums @ $13 each!
I went with 0.045" gap, kind of a happy median between the owner manual's recommendation of 0.052"-0.056" and Vortech's recommendation for "off road use" of 0.035". The original set looked great at 40K miles with 4.10 gears (about 50K miles in engine RPMs as compared to the stock 3.27 gears). The porcelain tips were dark brownish. The Vortech setup runs things a bit on the rich side.

Are you happy with the 4.10 gears? I have a set but haven't put them in yet. Probably will wait until I return from Nashville!:spinem:

Oh, I 'm extremely happy with'em, but then they are all I've known in this car as it came to me with'em. The 4.10s out back and the Vortech S/C up front make for some short duration full throttle blasts! Especially in first and second gear. I literally put in a shiftlight to visually remind me when to shift because the shift points come so quickly. And, you don't have to watch the tach, just concentrate on putting the power down and keeping it going in a straight line.

I feel stupid for asking, how's your fuel mileage?

As a 'toy', SNAKEYE is not a daily driver, but I do about 8K miles per year. The best mileage I ever got was the Toy Cruise our local chapter just did. I ran about 30 miles each back country roads and turnpike and got 20 MPG. The weather was cold and the car ran great. For all around driving it gets 15 MPG. I like the power and the gears, so that 15 MPG has a high fun quotient attached to it. If I want mileage, I drive my automatic-trannied 115HP VW or the better-half's automatic-trannied 130HP minivan for a 23 MPG boring ride. Gotta pay to play!

I may have put 2K on my 96 Cobra this year. Most of that was going to Michigan for 100th Celebration. As you can see, it is not my daily driver. I was wondering if I should put the gears in now, before driving to Nashville in April. I'm also thinking of long tubes and full exhaust kit. :spinem:

SNAKEYE's exhaust is stock. Makes enough noise for me.
The Vortech makes much more HP than any exhaust system modification. And the whine of the Vortech isn't covered up by the exhaust note! Together the overall sound under WOT and full boost is a hoot.
