I was browsing through the inventory of a dealer in California (yes, I know, too much time on my hands... its the holidays :D ). I bumped into a $42+K SVTF with the following specs:
Stock #: 039946
Factory-Installed Equipment
•_European Appearance Package
•_Custom Paint PKG
•_Custom Paint Interior&wheels
•_Jackson Racing Supercharger
•_Custom Seats
•_Super CHRG L/M Ro#41680
•_Custom Gauge POD
Dealer-Added Equipment
•_Ultra-Guard Alarm System
•_Back-Up Alert
See it for yourselves while its there (https://secure.galpin.com/main.asp?content=search/step3&mid=0*1&vehiclenumber=NLCA0002.1/039946&site=ford)
Is Ford installing Jackson superchargers in SVTFs or is this just a "marketing tactic" from this dealership?
Mondo bizarro!
Happy holidays to you all! :tmb:

I wish they had some pictures. That's alot of money for a Focus. I'd spend that cash on a Cobra and still have some money left over.

yeah 42000 seems a bit prices for a 18000 dollar car with a 3000 dollar super charger attached to it, and those extras im thinkin around 26000 for it all
a factory install with a warranty would be nice though

The Factory doesn't installany of the extras on this car. If the powertrain warranty is still valid then it's the dealer covering it and not telling ford that its been modded. Doesn't matter who installed the blower it will void your warranty as far as Ford is concerned. Only the dealer can save your butt...
Here's the complete list of **** they've added.

$42,000?!?!?!?!
Two words, Evo VIII ! Oh yeah, and about 12 large left over.
Galpin is the largest Ford dealer in the world. One of the things they like to do, is sell customized (known as Galpinized) Ford products; they have been doing this for decades. They will build cars other dealers would never think of attempting; check out their website!

Fine, but isn't that taking things a bit too far. Why they list the supercharger as a factory installed option? What if the buyer (assuming they find somebody willing to pay over 42K for the car) moves somewhere else and find the car is not covered by the warranty? Sorry, but it doesn't seem right to me. Unless they also Galpinize the warranty and have Ford bite the bullet.

It probably had a dealer "addendum" sticker next to the Monroney Label. By law the dealer cannot tamper with the sticker from the factory, for example: some mustangs where the dealer adds on cool ground effects you now minor stuff or even a pinstripe must have a label right next to the window sticker.
Think about it Fords whole goal is to blow out the after market, they would'nt put a "Jackson" on there they would go in their little back room and make them on their own. It would be cheaper for ford to make them then to buy them.
Hence the reason for the big sound systems Ford has been putting in. Most of the systems sound good enough that most people dont take em out (i.e. Mach 460, Mach 1000).
But 42K for a supercharged focus. It better beat A Cobra or a Corvette for that much dough.

Untrue. Everything on Fords car is bought anyway. From the exhaust to the carpet. Nothing in there is actually made by Ford...Ford buys it from comanies and puts their names on, of course they pay those companies to put their name on it, but thats how it works. You thnk those NASCARs actaully have engines in them made by Ford, Chevy, and so on? Nope...not at all...different parts from all over....u get my point

Not exactly Dmccoy. Ford makes its own engines, or at least builds them from suplied and home made parts. Also the bodies are made, or stamped by them. Mostly everything else is supplied by external providers, the main one is VISTEON which is a spin of Ford's former part making division or department. Roughly this is how it is.
BLKSVT03 the dealer "addendum" sticker next to the Monroney Label would be fine and that is probably how it is in the dealership. In their website however, they portray the car as being built with the supercharger. That is a misconception way to off for a consumer. I think it is a very sleazy commercial practice. that is why I called the attention of the board about it. As far as I am concerned they can stuff a V16 in there if it fits, just let the buyer know that it wasn't born that way.

Exactly SOBE! I had numerous Mustangs and Ford Racing offered a Supercharger that replaced the upper manifold, mainly speaking was they would put their OWN in it and it would be marked FORD. Not Jackson. Ford most likely wouln't pay for anyone else's part when they know they can put their own on it, and actually make more money. And if it was really factory we would most likely all have or want one!:)
Course I would'nt mind a Jackson Supercharger myself, but i would be too worried about voiding the warranty???
And as it goes along remember how Henry Ford was able to make the Model T under 400 bucks, it was because he did mae ALL his own parts. I think there is truth to every statement we have made here alot of the part are farmed out, but there are alot of "subsidiary" companies that ford still owns that make all the parts. For example the glass. Look at your glass stamp . And if you are ever at somones house and they have an older screen door with storm glass in it, sometimes if you look you will see house glass with a ford stamp on it.
Far as I know they are one of the only companies that still make a majority of their own parts. But all of it is not made by someone else. The prices of cars would be unaffordable.
As for when Henry was around his cars were 400 bux and he hhad hundreds upon thousands of workers, where the competetions cars we something like 70,000 dollars, even back at the turn of the century.
I only know the label stuff from selling cars a few years back. the gov was real strict on that one.
As far as the NASCAR goes, You bet they got Ford dudes down there putting that stuff together. remember the old quote...... "That which wins on te Race track sunday, wins in the showroom on Monday". So ford is going to Sponsor them in that way. hence the reason they have a "Ford Racing" Division"
Just my 2 cents. "yes i stole that phrase from somebody some where"
