I thought this topic had gotten so big that it deserved its own thread. I know we are all very excited about an event such as this but I think there are a few large obstacles to overcome. Do we have access to any timing equipment? If we are to do this for anyone other than ourselves, especially if we charge a fee, then we need accurate timing equipment or we wil have annoyed people. What about the cones to mark the course? We need a metric s@#tload of cones to lay out any course and I do not believe our club inventory includes any. Then, of course, is the need for a venue but we have been through that many times.
Now that I have sounded all negative by pointing out our shortcomings, let me offer a suggestion--What if we sponsor an additional stop on the SC SCCA autocross circuit? Maybe we could get them to have a special SVT class just for us where we could compete against each other in the club. In otherwords, we attend an SCCA event, sponsor others and have our own private intraclub points race running concomitantly. I know this isn't the ideal solution but it is a feasible alternative.

It is a good idea. We can sponser an event with the SC/SCCA. I do not think that we need a special class for our cars and trucks though. the SCCA will already have classes that we will fall into. Then all we have to do is see how we did. We can do our own awards at a later meeting or something.

Clay and Rob are going to find a spot near Myrtle for an Autocross.

We don't have a place for one in Columbia either.
Just thought I would let you all know.
Thanks guys !
